Braai paint

I used this one for a outside built in braai beginning last year and its holding up well. I didn't paint the coal tray but the rest of it was painted.
First cleaned it with steel brush and then a degreaser.

All these braai/fire resistant paints works well on most parts of the braai, but none of them holds up at the parts where the fire is at its hottest.

Need some advice on restoring this Jetmaster 700mm braai.

I am going to buy a new custom sized grid but just want to know if anyone has used the braai paint as p above posts or perhaps can recommend something else based on what they have used?

Going to scrape off the rust give it a lick of of braai paint and it should be good as new again?
Use a wire brush attachment on your drill to get the rust off.

So I have a normal bricked braai that hasn't got any real issues but want to clean it up a bit and I'm wondering if it's worth bothering painting it or just leaving the bricks bare?

And when you paint it would you paint the "floor" area as well?

One hand it looks very bare, but on the other hand I'm not sure paint on bricks is going to last very well either and might look worse for it.

maybe provide pics to detemine if possible ,,, but generally no paint in my opinion..if outside of braai area maybe tiles?

Nothing on the floor area.
Don't think paint on bricks will look very nice, might last longer than on metal. You going to use a lot of paint as bricks will suck up that paint. And if you use heat resistant paint that may become expensive.
If you really want it to look better, you can tile the bricks.

I would spend the time tidying up the bricks and stuff, but I wouldn't paint it.. rather spend the time on just making the normal bricks look as good as possible.

If you want to be "posh" maybe think about investing in some firebricks for the "floor" of the braai as well.

Hammerite paint will fix that rusty lid for you, real good.

I feel the smoother the floor the better, bricks just sound like more work.

But yeah my logic is also rather to leave it as is. Has worked very well so far.

By Fire Bricks I'm talking something like this :

The 25mm version, and they don't necessarily need mortar joints between them, so would be relatively smooth... but like I said its a "posh" thing more than anything else cos the concrete base works just fine.

Yeah I knew what you meant from the get go, but just seems like more kak than it’s worth.

What I’ll rather spend my money on is an ash vacuum.

:)

Come now, sell the missus that you want to build a pizza oven, and all that stuff :P

But yeah an ash vacuum is probably a better investment, or even just an ash tray type of base.

Erm that’s the reason for the whole question because I’m putting this inside the braai.

Can't see the image, but assuming its one of those pizza ovens ou stick in the fire. Would actually be interested to know how well they work cos I've contemplated one for a while but ended up with one of those gas pizza ovens instead that I'm going to build into a mini "outdoor kitchen" type thing.
