South Africa's very own BraaiBoy (Gareth Daniell) is currently busy attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest Braai! (Technically called “longest time to continuously cook food items on a barbecue”.)

His attempt started this morning (23 August) at 8am at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The current record is 32hrs, but they're aiming for a new record of 60hrs!

Gareth started braaiing on April 17th, 2009 and has braai'd every single day since, sometimes more than once a day. That's over 3 years of daily braais.. now that's dedication!

One of the rules of the Guinness Attempt is that ALL the food he braais HAS to be eaten in order to count. He also has to have at least 5 different food items/types on the braai at any given time.

He gets a 5min break every hour, has to save them up if he wants to rest for longer.

I asked him the same question on Twitter and he said we should come by and help them eat :D
 
I have braaied the best meat on a Sunbeam water grill westward of Langebaan and North of Cape Town but South of Lambertsbay.

Now that's a world record to be reckoned with.

Swung by the Guinness Record Event to say hi and show support. Quite a lekker vibe going there, InterwebsRadio is streaming live from the event and providing the beats. We sommer had a lekker kuier with them and WatKykJy and his team.
Braaiboy (Gareth) even fed us some of his Guinness Record Attempt meat - it's crazy good. They use an epic ShakeIt braai spice provided by Deli Spices that you can't buy anywhere in retail.

We ended up staying several hours! Had a drink and there were even folks playing Monopoly and other boardgames at some of the tables. Everybody who is there is there because they love a good braai. It was a great impromptu party and I plan to swing by again tomorrow evening to cheer Gareth on further. :)

Well I only find out he's "braaiboy" after I made up my mind about him being d00s:D Got into an argument with him one night because he can't treat women with respect, but maybe it was just the booze talking (no excuse to treat women like **** though)
 
I think I might just give some moral support from here in the Cape and braai the whole weekend.

He's like his braai meat, a chop. Don't know why anyone is impressed by his feats. "oh look at me, I have a braai everyday, I am braaiboy ghegheghe"
 
How many of you can braai everyday and make money out of it

not sure about him but if i could i would and he replied to my tweet so he is cool :p

There's a guy outside this corner cafe who braais and sells all day everyday. I'll ask if he has a twitter, maybe he'll reply to you too.
