Brackenfell Area anyone else?

Just spoken to a guy at 10210, he informed me they working on the issue now, started this morning.
Lets see if he was truthful and this gets resolved.

Moet sĂŞ dit raak nou bitter irriterend.

Dankie vir die leiding vat :D

Plesier.

If you reboot the router as soon as it drops does it still not sync for 15mins?

Yip, reboot it, still nothing happens, no ISP connects, and then after approx 15min (10-15) it just reconnects.

I noticed the same issue on the 31'st and called Telkom this morning after much experimentation. I tested whether I could make phone calls while the connection was down and it was no problem so that basically tells me it is definitely ADSL related. Tried 3 different ISP's, tried rebooting the router multiple times, unplugged the FAX machine, etc.

I have a feeling that they probably worked at the local exchange on the 31'st, did a rush job because hey, everyone wants to party on new years eve and this is the result. Oh well, lets see what happens next.

Hmmm... so they knew about the problem for two days and only started working on it the third... bravo at the top notch customer service.

Yup, still not fixed. Phoned 10210 and Telkom was completely unhelpful, the person I was speaking to said that there is no fault at the exchange, useless.

Just phoned them now again, and all she could say is the technicians are working to resolve the problem but that they have no idea how long it will take.

I have also send a PM to TelkomZA a few minutes ago, to see if he can get this resolved in a more speedier fashion.

Ok, the last time my connection went down was at 16:47 and it then came back on at 16:57 (after a couple of authentication failures according to my modem's logs). Its been up since then so it seems that the problem is finally fixed for good (I hope).

Yeah, been running fine so far, no more disconnects, but the outage still shows Open on the notice board, so not sure if this is just some random fluke.

Outage Num:18525
Telkom ADSL outage affecting Brackenfell ( 021 - 981, 982 )
Telkom ADSL services in the following area may be Inaccessible : Brackenfell ( 021 - 981, 982 )
Start Date:2014-01-01 12:33:10
End Date:
Status:Open

Logs show something related to "cannot get channel ID" when it struggles to resync.

I'm guessing something died and it cannot maintain as many concurrent connections as it normally does.

Seems better now but line still syncing at below full speed and seems pretty slow.
