Brackenfell Area anyone else?

Mine is still dead. TelkomZA replied to my PM, gonna send him my line number now.

*Edit, my ADSL would sync but not establish a connection since yesterday, I did have to do a hard reset on the router and now it is working again. My speedtests are full speed so lets see if anything has changed and it stays connected.

Mine is running fine since after some time 17:30 yesterday. "Touch wood"

OK, so still stable and no disconnects, I am at the office but will monitor my computer at home via Teamviewer and post again closer to the end of the day, or if it disconnects again.

Update: No disconnects the entire day and speeds are fast as expected.

OK, I got a response from @TelkomZA twitter:

@ChrisH_ZA Hi, tech has been attending to the fault in area. He was able to replace one of the components but still awaiting for the rest...

... of the spares to be delivered. ^RI

So it seems that there will be some more downtime when the spares arrive.

Thanks for the feedback.
Glad it is being fixed, so far things have been stable for me.

Is anyone else still having problems?

My ping and speed ridiculous in latest tests over the last few days and can't play anything online atm.

FYI this is on a 4Mbps uncapped line.

No idea what that is based on, maybe if you give us some IP's to test and what ISP you using?

With Telkom. Results above from speedtest.net.

Mine has been super bad since Sunday. exact same problems as you mad-dog. I have also already phoned and escalated the problem and once again asked on @TelkomZA's twitter page for assistance.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3214891922

I usually get 6mbps down...

Ok nice to know it's not only me. Also been since around Sunday. My ping on some of the tests yesterday was going as high as 1500ms. My download speed battling to get above 2.00 Mb/s. I have raised a fault and they have requested a traceroute from me before they escalate further. Not at home so they said they going to call me later. Will provide feedback if they let me know what might be causing this issue.

OK I am not with telkom but on the brackenfell exchange, of course there are multiple DSLAM's

But for me all looks normal, never noticed any issues.

Also in Brackenfell, same problem on Telkom Internet, local is so so, international is shocking, 600ms to London on a 4mb line. Tried my plugg account, works 100%, so Telkom seems to be the issue.

I give them to tomorrow to fix this cr*p. If this is not fixed I will get something else on Friday and cancel my account at Telkom. I can't understand how it can take one company this long to fix a fault??? Worse is that they don't communicate at all!

Has anyone got any recommendation on where to go next? Just not Mweb, been there, got the t-shirt.

Well apparently they have sent my request to DTech to investigate further. Not sure where this leaves me? This is killing me though cos i generally use my line for online gaming but with latency this high saying that the chance of that is miniscule is an overstatement.

Anyone have any takes on how long it takes to resolve once escalated to DTech? months?:)

Anyway will see what they come back with tomorrow but it seems i might have to join you Chris on switching. Not sure to who though. I hear Afrihost is pretty good.

I feel your pain, my local ping on Telkom is now up to 300ms to CPT, got kicked out of two dungeons in WOW tonight, needless to say not very popular with a couple of people. If they don’t get this sorted soon, I am going back to plugg, never had any issues, they were just a lot more expensive at that stage than Telkom, but see their prices are now in line with the rest of the industry.

So apart from the international issues we have atm. TelkomZA just replied to me regarding the Brackenfell local issues... Techs are waiting for stock, expected delivery is on the 13th of Feb.

Was better this morning, just checked now again, we are back to 800MS international latency to London. Also, other ISP accounts works fine, just Telkom that is not working, and they are also not telling us what the problems are.

The problem is that there is some issue either where Telkom gets into Telia or within Telia's network itself. Telia is a swedish company and, from another post, Telkom has told a client that they can't do anything about it as it is an international problem... go figure

That is a typical Telkom answer, so why is it that other ISP work and Telkom does not, they usually put you on hold at that point to check with someone and never come back.
