Brandy lovers thread

I see they offer tastings but where the hell are they based? I can't seem to find it on my phone...

Dunno. There is a mail form and a cell number. No location.

Edit: Twitter suggests Cape Town.

So, this Calvados stuff I was given - I believe is a brandy of sorts.

How does one usually drink it.
Seems to me it is more suited to cooking !

I tried some Van Ryn's 10 year old neat and hated it, mixed with Ginger Ale it actually tasted really good.
Whisky just tastes so much better.

Was my birthday recently and I received a bottle of KWV10, Richelieu 10 year vintage and Oude Meester Demant.

They all have their strong points and the Oude Meester Demant surprised me but the KWV10 is the best of the lot (for me anyway).
Quite keen to try the KWV12 now since it seems to be a firm favourite around here.

Whisky just tastes so much better.

Now there's something I just can't bring myself to like...not a whisky fan at all.

My brother-in-law gave me glass of Jameson Select Reserve (or something like that) not too long ago and that wasn't too bad though.

I was also pleasantly surprised with the Demant. Really good value for money IMO.

Had a blast at brandy fusion. Pity the smaller stands from last year are all gone. Some of the smaller distillers were represented at the brandy fusion stand. I ended up spending most of my coupons there.

Van Ryn master class was well worth it.

Found some new brandies: Kaapzicht Potstill 10y, Sumsaré (Erasmus backwards) and Grundheim Potstill 9. The Elsenberg 13y was also a real treat and something you can't buy. So if you have the opportunity to taste it don't miss out.

It was at the Brandy Fusion but I gave it a miss, purely because I didn't want to spoil my pallet before tasting the good stuff on offer elsewhere :p

Enjoying some d'aria potstill in my recently acquired lead crystal snifters :D

Luxury!

Interesting. I was at kingna over the weekend and they have an 8y on the way. Got an advance tasting right from the barrel. Divine!

One of my pride and joys.

Louiesenhof Marbonne Brandy
