Brandy lovers thread

Hey guys
Drinking at a braai or just because I want to, I then go with Oloffberg...what a lovely brandy...I do like KWV 5 AND 10YEARS. And I absolutely love the 20years....smooth and silky. If you have the money to spend.

I remember drinking Wellingtons VO. But in my defense, I was young, poor, and did not know better. :o

Wellingtons VO is now crazy expensive about the same price than all the common brands when it used to be half that

Surprisingly easy drinkable neat.

Then again is "best brandy in the world"

I have a bottle of this at home. Will open it if by some miracle I pass all exams this semester...

Has anybody sampled it before? I like the Boplaas range - we go to the Garden Route every year on holiday, so I suppose it's a bit sentimental to me.

Edit - Found a usable pic.

Had the weirdest tasting at Boplaas. They also do a Whiskey and the Brandy tasting included a taste of the Whiskey.

They don't mix too well as a tasting

I can imagine... :) Wasn't aware of the whiskey, though. We've been buying port and brandy from them for a couple of years - mostly the sweet stuff.

Slightly off topic - have you been to Grundheim Wines? They have some brandies, but focus more on Witblits and the like. Also pretty cool. Bought a case of "Brandslang" from them - instant gifts for a variety of occasions!

So, I see the Whisky lovers thread is still ongoing, but this is suprisingly dead. In November 2018, I purchased my second bottle of brandy for the year to enjoy in the Dec/Jan period (tough year financially). Got a job offer in December and did not take leave. It was a Van Ryn's 10 year old. I see they changed the label. Anyway did not get to enjoy the bottle. What brandies are you currently drinking?

Still trying to figure out who makes Jack Parow's brandy (which is really nice IMO).

Somewhere I read possibly from Montague. Maybe Kinga? But I doubt they do the volumes, i.e. it's in all the Checkers. Any ideas?
