Brave browser switches base code to Chromium

Brave browser has announced that it will switch to a Chromium code base in its latest release, TheNextWeb reports.

Brave joins the likes of Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi to use Google's open source Chromium as the base code for their browser.

Huge fan here! Been using Dev channel as daily driver till the release channel now moved over to chromium. You will be surprised how much kaak it saves you from.

I use a vpn adblock so see no ads. Works on other apps aswell.

I use Brave Browser and I like it, a lot. I don't mind seeing an ad or two, but things are out of control.

But then you have all your traffic slowed down by a VPN, and whatever that does to your battery.

Last time I played with it the developer tools was a problem (always a separate screen, never docks). If they have sorted that out I might give it a spin again.

Haven't found it to be much slower (except with Spotify I thought it was the VPN but it's just their crap Android app) and battery life is a negligible tradeoff for me to not see ads anywhere.
