Just want to see what the general feeling around Jacaranda's breakfast show is... It has to be one of the poorest breakfast shows i have ever come across...
Between Martin Bester trying his best to sound like Oprah Winfrey, forcing his religion on everyone every second day with his "daaglikse deuntjie" and him trying to create tension when saying whether the secret sound is right or wrong, when it is so obvious that it is wrong I have decided to rather listen to my own playlist when driving in the morning, only switching to radio on the hour to catch the news... Even with Tumi Morake's uncalled for comments, at least she brought some witty excitement in the mornings...
Is it only me or does Martin Bester irritate the crap out of anyone else?
 
Don't think there is any good breakfast show in SA. Actually, there is not good radio presenters, but for a few on Classic FM, like Deano Maduramuthu etc.
 
Radio goes on for 10 seconds at a time in my car. So often just check what's on and turn it off.
 
IMO Alex Jay is possibly the worst radio presenter... but I do agree, Martin Bester is also pretty useless

I've never listened to music at work before this week - I don't listen to music in general... Started here in April, senior people here put the radio on Jacaranda. Let's just say I've gotten a music streaming subscription for myself for the first time ever this week, thanks to Martin Bester.

What an annoying ****.
 
at least in JHB, 94.7 chopping and changing breakfast hosts is really annoying, annele is just a fat B**** that screams at everybody.
including her co-hosts.

also radio stations, besides a cherished few, are into adverts and commercials constantly, they have become so commercialized its madness.

just my 2c worth, listened to Highveld for many years, then some woman (annelle) that cant speak normally to anybody comes on and screams at people, took over.
I literally almost never listen to 94.7 anymore, Ill support a radio station that actually reads my whatsapps, and SMS's.

or just listen to CD's/USB or if your rich enough for streaming, listen to streaming music from a radio station anywhere else in the world.
hell you can play live Air traffic control chatter if that makes you relax.:D

Mix 93.8 is pretty decent most of the time.

The one thing that really gets on my T*Ts though is their acceptance of fake rubbish adverts - Aquapol shyte in particular. I kinda lose all respect for the station manager/owner when that allow junk like that to be broadcast as it is simply for the money, no morals or ethics involved.
 
The breakfast show with Bester is the pits and so is Highveld, rather listen to my music instead.

Actually most radio shows are poo anyway.

Can't hear the breakfast shows over the sound of me running Spotify in the car!
 
Haven't listened to a single local radio channel the past 3 or so years. Been streaming radio channels from abroad every single day. Beats the hell listening to things in another country than to the morons on our channels.
 
There's hot 91.9 which isn't too bad.
 
Is it news / local content that keeps you listening to the radio?
 
Used to listen to the breakfast show on Jacaranda, but with Martin Bester I can't anymore. No idea what they are trying to do, but it is'nt good radio. So I figured out how to use tune-in and now I am streaming Mix Fm in the mornings over the Bluetooth.
 
Mix used to be great but lately talk, talk, talk :(

Same here. Been streaming offerings from 1.fm (Switzerland). Their various rock, alternativ, blues and past decades "stations" play awesome music.
 
Oh man, Roger Goode was terrible in the evening, but in the mornings on 5FM he's just torture.

94.7's crew is tolerable over the 15 minutes it takes me to get to work in the mornings :D
