BREAKING | Cheetahs officially booted from PRO Rugby

It is not fair to take away the Cheetahs PRO14 status, this without them having done anything wrong or even being afforded the opportunity to play for their place. Just taken away and they cant do anything about it?
Surely the Cheetahs would have been against a any other team being treated the same way... Oh Wait....
Remember 2012? When the Cheetahs and Western Province voted FOR the Lions to be replaced by the Kings in Super Rugby?
Well well well.... Guess the wheels have turned, I can not feel sorry for them. They had the power to prevent this happening to another team a couple of years ago, yet they supported the idea. Now that the roles have been reversed, they want to cry foul?
All I am feeling right now is Schadenfreude....

Let us be honest, can South Africa financially support multiple teams at a high level?

The stadiums are almost always empty unless its a semi or a final when it comes to domestic games. I've been to Ellis Park for Saturday afternoon games and I'd be impressed if there were 10,000 people there. From what I see on TV, the other unions/franchises don't do any better. Do the smaller unions even pull crowds?

Aside from poor gate revenue, this also has an affect on sponsors.

Perhaps this is the fault of Super Rugby growing far too bloated? Super Rugby crowds were terrible and on the decline and by the time the domestic season starts people have had enough of rugby. I swear it felt like you had been watching a Super Rugby season play out over several years and then wham, Currie Cup.
The stadiums are empty because the quality of rugby suck and it's a mission to get into one and then worry for the entirety of the game if the car gaurd who tried to extort R50 from you are going to damage your car and the ticket prices are expensive.

Also having the games solely on DSTVs premium package makes it very exclusive.
I'm not going to pay R1000 a month to follow the rugby. If I can't pirate it then I just don't watch, and after missing a few games in the middle of a season I normally lose interest.

Maybe if they played some better rugby they could argue it was unfair.

Oh! Look, Those not worthy Cheetahs just beat the Brilliant Blue Bull Side..... :cautious:

I suspect the Cheetahs are highly motivated to knock over the other unions who will participate in the expanded Pro14 as well.

Yep! A point to proove and there is no reason why they cannot...

Gonna look kark when the Cheetahs win the local comp but don't feature in the Pro series....

Yeah lets hope so. I support the Sharks but I reckon the Cheetahs need to clip the other unions wings a bit as a FU to SARU.

SARU already looks kark. They don't care.

They don't care how bad they look, as long as they got maximum money in their back pocket, wallet bulging out of it's seams.
Well if they truly cared about maximum money long term they would actually build our rugby.

What they are doing is stripping it and selling off the scraps. They are very short sighted in their quest to make money.

The future does not exist for them, they only care about what they can see, and touch now.
