Hey guys,

Can someone please give me some good points to use in my speech to a small company that would inspire them to leave behind their blinded faith in Sentech and go on to ADSL?

I have been made a fool and an idiot due to Sentech techs!
And no matter how hard I try to proof my competence they always shoot me down!
These people have had endless problems where Sentech techs have blamed the hardware and not their product, and after I proof to them it is a Sentech issue I still get a raised brow!

Frankly I have decided to give it a last try. Seeing as nothing bothers me more than seeing computer illiterate people suffer! :D

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I'm sure there are many threads in this forum in which forumites complain about Sentech that you could go through. Maybe you could print out some of the comments and use them as 'testimonials'.

The main points would be:

The reliability of ADSL in that it uses cable to connect, as opposed to Sentech using wireless/satellite which is reliant on fair weather for good connection and prone to packet loss etc.

I would also imagine that the price of ADSL bandwidth is cheaper. There is a large variety of types of ADSL accounts to choose from, local-only to unshaped to uncapped.

An ADSL modem/router would have a lot more functionality than a Sentech modem - ability to share the connection with wireless and the 4-port switch, can also be used to set up a network, and many other configurations.

Obviously it will be hard to convince people who do not make use of any Telkom services as well as those who use the Sentech modem while moving around.

Thanks boeti...I'm gonna search around for some of the mentioned threads.
Just hope these people will trust me and move the h3ll over! They've been using Sentech for 4 years...I think they've just gotten use to the crap and dismiss all objections.

Thanks again! :D

I've used them for 3 years. Until last week I had relatively good signal & not too many issues - eventually after a couple of days they manage to improve their signal, but I still can't connect - I keep getting a "Error 734 PPP control link protocol..."
So anyway, they can't help me... I have since put through my cancellation and am waiting patiently for a refund on this months D/O.
This is what they told me
"I am in a dark spot" Hmmm... all of a sudden after 3 years...
"They're busy increasing coverage" Okay... and this is resulting in your current customers losing coverage?!?!
"Sometimes you're so close to the tower the signal is going right over you" REALLY! Now that's a good one...
Sentech do not support or produce ANY high gain antennaes, so if you use one they will not send tech support out to you.
I was eventually told I need to do what's best for me... It really seems as though retaining customers is really not a priority for them... shocking!!
Now I have to come up with an alternative solution quick and have been left without connectivity :-( My options? Waiting to get a phone line / ADSL installed (I can only imagine how long this could take)... iBurst (and get stuck with the same issues as with Sentech?)... ?!?!
My suggestion... jump ship & make alternative arrangements while you are still able to connect!!

Wow Michelle....WOW
How much you charge per hour to deliver speeches? :D

They actually had the same type of problem for 2 weeks! It started working again one morning after I had tried over and over again to make them realize it's Sentech and not the network switch, and guess what?...they said I don't have to worry THEY fixed MY problem!!!! :p

The more I think of it...the less I wana help them.
Well I already sent them a mail. Hope they'll hear me out!

Good luck.

You can get price comparisons on hellkom.co.za for ammunition.

Also tell them that it have been proven, and can be proven that wireless is slower than fixed-wire.

Post your ideas and speeches here, there'll be people who will help you to polish and fine-tune it :D

Heres one.. their drivers do not support duo core processors (see the sticky about this).
I have been with them now for just over 3 years and am one of the happier customers. But the lack of support is concerning, if something goes wrong you are stuffed. Their own reseller goes around sending emails trying to sell their opposition! The imminent closing down of mywi still has not been clarified and we are still stuck betwen a rock and a hard place not knowing what is going to happen. In my case though, moving to ADSL provider is a problem because I live in rental accomodation and Iburst is equally abysmal.
Let us know what happens... could be amusing.

And another... the Li battery in the modem has gone phut. You cant get replacements by the looks of it.

Dump them as a client

They're not worth the effort

Tell them "yes we supplied the hardware but you can **** off now we won't support it anymore as you would rather believe someone who hasn't setup your entire infrastructure than someone that did"

I'm starting to do that with all the waste of time ****ed up idiots out there. Their money is not worth a ****ing cent in my world...
