Brian Molefe becomes Telkom director

Government is Telkom’s largest shareholder — it owns 39% of the operator, so this doesnt come as a surprise

he is actually an alternate. which means he doesn't attend unless the other guy is not there.

and in fact i think molefe has stated that he will be looking to move away from being a director on the boards of companies the pic is invested in to being an alternate.

and in truth it matters not who the pic representative is as long as the rep votes the way the pic instructed. of course if the rep votes otherwise it is likely that it will be a career limiting move.

Fixed-line operator Telkom has appointed the head of the PIC, Brian Molefe, alternate director to Mr AG Rhoda.

Rhoda is on the board. And if he is unable to make it, Molefe steps in. You will probably find that Molefe was previously the PIC representative on the board.
