Background
- i have a 4meg adsl line with telkom. Isp is afrihost 2meg uncapped (planning to move to 4meg uncapped with either afrihost or plugg. Thats another story)
- up until 2 weeks ago, i always synced at 4meg download.
Now i sync at 1024 to a max of 1350 more or less downstream.
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 106 (down) and 135 (up)
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 530 (down) and 287 (up)
So i log a fault with telkom last saturday. 4 days later (without any visit) they mark it as fixed because "we saw your line is connecting"
Log another and another.
Today the snotty attitude from a Sihle Pongola on the call center says.
Even if you are paying for a 'fastest' adsl, any speed you get is fine, ie. 1.3meg. as long as its not below 640k. ONLY if its 640k or below, then will they consider it a fault.
My response. So why bother paying for 4meg, when i could just pay for a 1meg or 2meg And how come i was getting 4meg all along! He claims my account is synced at 5meg, yet my router says otherwise.
I've tried using an Afrihost uncapped, capped and fnb (saix) based accounts to see if that made any difference, obviously no improvement on sync.
So any solutions? Or any technical jargon i can throw at the Telkom call center to get them to fix this **** up?
OR do you think I'm better of moving my line to Afrihost or Mweb and letting them handle the hassle of line sync issues?
