Someone lent me a Bold they had lying around but the only sign of life I've been able to get out of it is a flashing LED - the repeating sequence is Flash - pause - flash, flash, flash,

I've tried all the tricks I know - including JL Commander and AppLoader.exe but no joy.

Before I take it in to Vodacom are there any other things I might try?

Take the battery out, put it in, and when you try turn the phone on, do not hold the power button in. Just press and release normally, wait, do the same again. Holding the power button in does not switch it on.

No joy. :(

Tried it with and without the battery.

Take it in to have a look at, might sound stupid but have you charged the battery ?

Yeah, the battery should be charged by now. Anyway it should work without a battery as long as it is plugged in right?

Nope it doesnt work without a battery. Or atleast as far as i know.
You're right - my curve works just enough to tell me there's no battery attached.

Definitley sounds like it is dead. What colour is the light when flashing ?
Red - it's the message LED

I'm going to take it in - I've taken photos of the moisture strips and there is no sign of any moisture in the case should they try and go down that road again.

Update: They swapped it out for a new one. :)

Good ! so now you have a new toy to pla with :D
True that.

Quick qn (while I search for the answer) - do I need to do something special to get SatNav installed?

once bis is active on it, an icon should show up which would allow you to download it. satnav only works on vodacom sim thou.

I am still on Vodacom (for now).

EDIT - found it in the Application update.
