I bricked my sgs doing the 3 button fix.

I need to get it unbricked. The bootloaders are corrupted as the fix writes new bootloaders, so the jig cable doesnt work.

To which place in cape town must i take it or is there someone here who can unbrick it?

I phoned samtech, and the guy sounded clueless, when i said my phone was bricked. Not sure i must take it to them. And vodacare? not sure they have the necessary hardware to it.

I cant stand not having my sgs

uhm. there's a reason its called a brick. ( unless of course you wanna jump in and solder a serial promgrammer to the eprom io pins. )

I way take it to vodascum first. Even though you voided the warranty they may be clueless enough to give you another one

See if you can get into download mode, I thought I had bricked my galaxy s when A firmware update failed mid process due to a dodgy usb connection. My phone did not even turn on, and did nothing when plugged into the charger. I had to have the VOLUME DOWN + HOME KEY + POWER held down for approximately 3 minutes before my phone turned on and displayed that it was in download mode. I then had to flash a new ROM through Odin before I could get my phone working again.

Sorry to hear this, but this is self-inflicted wounds.

You can borrow my Motorola V3 Razr (black one nogal) till you get your Galaxy S going again.

Defiler, really? But my 3 button wasnt working, that is why i tried the 3 button fix.

I will hold down for 3 minutes and see what happens.

I don't usually laugh at other's misfortunes, but reading about somebody who has bricked their new phone is like watching an idiot do a stupid stunt and then injure himself badly...something that we all saw coming.

Then you need to do the jig fix.

Or go to the service centre and tell them Kies crashed while updating firmware (since the end result when Kies crashes on a phone without 3-button recovery is the same).

Let's get jiggy! :)

I made a jig but hasnt worked yet.

Will try it some more otherwise will have to take into samtech.

okay samtech is officially useless and stupid.

I took it to them, they didnt even notice it was uk. The guy couldnt revive it which makes me think they dont have the skills or hardware or both and just rather ordered a new mobo. But then he could write the imei number to it because he said it is a uk phone. and thus voided the warranty becuase samsung sa doesnt cover international warranty. then they wanted to charge me R2k to fix it. no f&*king way!

the comsumer act comes in april, if i dont have it fixed by then, the i will use it to force them to cover my warranty!

If you have a Samsung Vibrant device, this may be of your interest. XDA member connexion2005 compiled a great thread containing links to how to´s on video. Topics such as how to flash, backup and restore, how to soft UN-Brick any Galaxy S, how to enter recovery and download Mode, rooting, networking, and reviews.
No doubt a great thread to have in mind if you want to modify your device. Please say thanks or leave your comments

:)

lol damn it does suck, i bricked my Moto V3x when it came out back in the day just 3 months after buying it. wasnt able to un-brick mine. now i dont even worry to root my desire scared that the same will happen. after reading what happened to you...i will wait till April (hopefully) for gingerbread. but good luck getting your phone working
