Hi there,

I have two wireless routers both of huawei of models : B683 & B970b i have two printers connected to the B970b one which i wanna access which being connected to the B683 i tried bridging as i googled it and but in the B683 router the option of access point and bridging isnt there where as in B970b one the option exists when i am changing the selection from access point to Bridge the wireless router B970b no more shows in the internet connectivity menu however which isnt the same case with the B683 router.

However i cannot bridge the B970b with B683 as i access internet from B970b where as i want to bridge the B683 to B970b such that the B683 no-more is an access point.

i even tried changing the Default gateway of the BG683 to 192.168.1.2 by keeping 192.168.1.1 ip of BG970b.
the only way around comes into my mind is swapping the sim card of both the routers and the B970b as bridge to B683 as the sim would be swapped i would be able to access internet from B683.however it would be starting from the scratch can anybody suggest me some other work around please....

Regards,
Amer

From your description I can't get any clue. You need to draw a picture of the planned configuration with IP address for both sides of the router (I mean router - a device working in router mode, not a bridge mode), default gateway on both devices and all users connected and how users are connected (to which device). Note that default IP addresses of configuration pages might be conflicting, you might need to change it on one device.
Also as a rule, DHCP server (if used) must be enabled only on one device.
You might also hit limitations imposed by devices, you already found there are different. Full featured router (like Microtik) can solve such problems, you need only one 3G device anyway.

Hi There,
A diagram may assist us but in general regarding connecting the two routers.
If the B683 does not support bridging then you will have to put the B970 into Bridge mode. Enable DHCP on the B970. Disable DHCP on the B683.

Try that and let us know but please include a diagram.

Tim

This is the network diagram and as you can see the B970b wireless router is connected to internet but the B683 isnt and the B970b doesnt have access to the printers connected via ethernet cables on the B683 huawei router.

Please note : i already tried swapping the sim cards but the sim which have internet do is not supported in the huawei B683 hence, my plan of swapping the wireless routers in order to be able to bridge them dint work out that well for me....as the B970b have an bridge mode option in it but the B683 router doesnt.

Basically i want the PC connected wirelessly to B970b also should be able to access the printers connected to the router B683.Please assist me a way around it.Hope this image gives you a precise idea as to what i am conveying.

I also tried to go for the DD-WRT firmware but None of the huawei routers are compatable with it.Be waiting for your response.

Regards,
Amer.

i am bridging two wireless networks basically b'coz i wanna be able to use the printers connected with Eithernet cable on the router Huawei B683 while i am been connected to the second router Huawei B970b which have an internet connection accessible.

Now after my extensive googling and research i have found that the routers can be bridged and i wanna make the router B970b a wireless bridge to B683 so that all the users could be able to connect to it and hence the printer accessing issue would be resolved.

All i wanna know is can i Put the IP address of the B970b in the setting>dialup>APN>Ipaddress of the wireless router B683,will it be able to access the internet on the router B970 which is wirelessly bridged?

I have attached an image for better understanding and please note both these router have been provided by the same service provide.please follow the link for image

I can't answer above question, as don't know my understanding is correct. However I think you can continue research in the following direction:
i am bridging two wireless networks basically b'coz i wanna be able to use the printers connected with Eithernet cable on the router Huawei B683 while i am been connected to the second router Huawei B970b which have an internet connection accessible.
Yes, you are bridging two wireless networks and - not sure- also a wired section with two printers. Not sure, as maybe B683 works as a print server, then printers are accessed indirectly by the print server (B683).

Then, assuming these are stand-alone network printers (not managed by print server), you have one subnet for two wireless sections and one wired section. All you need to make all devices accessible is to make sure that their IP addresses are contained within the range defined by the subnet. So if you use 192.168.1.x range, each device have unique address within the range and netmask 255.255.255.0. If IP addresses are assigned by DHCP server, you need to verify it happens indeed. What are IP addresses for printers? Are there on the same subnet?

all i am asking is if i use the huawei B970b router as the wireless bridge to huawei B683 and provide the ip address of it to the Setting>dialup>apn>ip address of the Huawei b683 router will i have access to internet.

Apart from the printers all devices are wirelesssly connected and have dynamic ip addressess. But only the printer have static ip address.Yes,all ip addresses are in the same range

All i want it to have both internet access and Printer access simultaniiously on all the systems. Please enlighten me.

thank you for your precious time.cheers

If all devices IP addresses are in the same range, it should be accessible from both wireless networks. Can you ping to the printers IP address? Focus on solving problem within subnet, then progress to setup Internet access.

Bascially, as can be noticed i tried to bridge two wireless routers wirelessly after extensive research i came two that they cannot be bridged now i am trying to connect those two routers throught a cat5 cross-over cable and i wanted to know whether can i disable the DHCP on the router which have internet and enable the DHCP of the router which is connected to printers b'coz i have a few systems that shouldnt be connected to the internet.

what i had in mind is if i switch the DHCP OFF on the internet router and turn it ON on the huawei B683 router i can add those devices MAC addresses to the internet gateway router to deny the access to the internet..?

I come Bearing Good News..

i connected the two routers as i have planned it through a straight-through cable and guess what it worked perfectly fine.....now i have acces to printers and also to the net..

Issue is officially resolved..... Thank you for all your support guys espically all those who had the patience to read my query and took out time to answer it Tim & sajunky...i really appreciate it...cheers ;)
