Something very wrong with that team.....not playing well together.
Maybe it's cos the other players know Heyneke favours Bulls players?
How could Pat Lambie sit on the bench and Zane Kirschner is playing a crap game? Would rather play Gio Aplon, he gives 150%.
:erm: Did you watch the game? Sadly Kirschner ws one of the best players on the field....
Other than that which bulls player would you have dropped?
I also think that SARU must bring Mallet in in some type of advisory capacity.
He has so much experience that is being wasted on Supersport.
Etzebeth was for me ZK was a window dressing player. I would have dropped MS as well. The Boks are playing HM kick-the-ball-in-the-air rugby.
God how I wish we play a proper structure game.
But you could see the school principle had some influence on the Los Pumas, the way the drive over the ball as team.
Just my 2 cents on HM.
If you guys recall when he was appointed, he stated that he wants to win every game, nevermind the type of rugby that we play.
Now I reckon he is feeling the pressure big time (just look at him screaming into that walkie talkie) and because of that he is reverting to a super conservative style of play. So instead of concentrating on our own game plan, he is focusing on defending against the oppositions'.
HM is employing a style of play that brought him lots of success with the Bulls but unfortunately for him it is outdated and only serves to play into the hands of the opposition. I can only imagine the horror if we employ this game plan against the AB's.
But Heyneke didn't win all those Super rugby titles for nothing. He clearly just needs to calm down and rethink the team's strategies.
I for one think we're missing the likes of Brussouw sorely, we are getting mauled at the breakdown (see what I did there). Sort out the breakdowns and stop all the aimless kicking and I reckon we'll always be competitive. IMHO of course.
I think that is why he included Louw. Against the likes of Pocock and McCaw if he is to start in the no 6 slot, we need either a very mobile loose trio that play towards the ball or we need a dedicated fetcher.
I think Vermeulen at 8, Alberts (for the love of all that is holy) in the no. 7 slot, and then Louw / Coetzee / Brussouw (when he recovers) in the no 6 jersey.
But seriously people need to relax. HM has been there for all of 5 games, with a very long injury list, a very long retirement list and very pathetic support from some south africans.
its not so much the players thats the problem, but the gameplan is the issue here. you can have the best players, but if you play k@k style of rugby with k@k tactics then you will never win games.
I totally agree, Heyneke should be given some slack. I think what everyone is disappointed about, and as previously mentioned, is the current game plan.
Heyneke will get it right, it might just take longer than we all expected.
