Bring on those clear skies

I cannot help but wonder if all the little pieces for a sudden shift from fossil fuel powered motor vehicles are starting to fall in place. The electric cars coming to light look better, faster and stronger every year with batteries constantly on the shrink in size coupled with an increase in battery efficiency.

That may be, but you just need to look at the figures that Nissan are giving us for the LEAF? They are nowhere near fossil fuel powered cars.

The thing does 100miles on a charge...100 miles! That is what, 160km? And this is for slow cruising, you floor it and you'll empty those batteries really quickly. Good luck getting anywhere on that. It supposedly has 80kW which is not bad. Not amazing, but not bad. It also takes 8 hours on a 200V American household power supply to recharge the thing. Ouch.

Talking about how polluted the N1 interchange is seems kind of pointless because with this thing you'll never reach it :p

Well at least if enough people buy this thing it will cut down on traffic congestion as they all pull over out of rush-hour traffic because the battery is flattened after running the aircon in the traffic jam.

That car does look exactly like the locally produced electric car. Does this mean Nissan bought them over or will we see electric car competition resulting in lowering prices. The SA version of the car was said to cost the consumer for R215'000.
