London – The scale of the economic challenge facing Britain's new government was laid out in a one-sentence letter, left by a minister who said: "There's no money left", it emerged on Monday.

David Laws, newly appointed chief secretary to the Treasury under Prime Minister David Cameron's new coalition government, described to reporters how he had been left the note by his predecessor Liam Byrne.

"When I arrived at my desk on the very first day as chief secretary, I found a letter from the previous chief secretary to give me some advice, I assumed, on how I conduct myself over the months ahead," Laws recalled.

"Unfortunately, when I opened it, it was a one-sentence letter which simply said 'Dear Chief Secretary, I'm afraid to tell you there's no money left', which was honest but slightly less helpful advice than I had been expecting."

Britain's new Conservative-Liberal Democrat government, which took power last week after elections on May 6, has promised to tackle the country's record deficit as a priority and will unveil an emergency budget on June 22.

Too much money is being given freely to Londonistan and its millions of first generation immigrants.

White people will never learn. They conquer the world by brute force but succomb to a subtle, plague-like invasion.

Europe via Turkey and the *stans
And the USA via Mexi-****ing-co
And the problem with Africa is that its full of ...

No Turks. Those mofos are everywhere.

EDIT: Of course gypsies are of great Turkish heritage or at least of geographic domicilium if they indeed have any kind of pure heritage.

Watched africa 360 this morning and african countries are k@king themselves since they are afraid that the deficit will cause them to loose out on handouts

The financial crisis rocking the globe has nothing to do with immigrants and handouts. It's because of reckless fiscal policy that's created artificial booms in economies based on credit.

And as an added result the African countries are "k@king themselves" as Gawain put it so succinctly.

In a sense they may be better off, they're already used to being broke. These other countries are at the brink of a long slide into zimbabwe style hyperinflation.

Don't waste your time assagai, it's very apparent that Otumeel is a racist with an agenda and you will be blue in the face before you change his opinion.

No-no-no you can't compare European economics with Zimbabwean ... I hesitate to use the term economics in the same sentence as Zimbabwe. Let's leave Bob's legacy at just that. A **** up that history will use as an example of "how NOT to do things" for centuries to come.

Actually Zimbabwe is a great case in point. Do you know how the bailout works? These governments are printing money to pay their debts, the inevitable end of which is a devalued currency. (see Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe)

Racist ... ???. I'm not a racist spontaneously. I weren't born this way. My opinions are motivated (since quite recently) by the actions of the "many".

The root of all the financial problems is as assagai said
reckless fiscal policy that's created artificial booms in economies based on credit.
. Basically generating a huge monetary black hole that is trying to reclaim whatever it can before it can eventually collapse on itself. Unless something changes drastically the great drain will continue and will feed the never satisfied monster we call the global economy. Inevitably as long as large deficits remain in the system the economy will never truly recover. This is kinda like the Great Depression all over again, the only diff is none of the markets have crashed. But on the bright side of life one can have a good laugh at all the conspiracy theories behind the current recession XD.

No I'm sure many aren't. It's seems to be something that is taught.
