I don't understand the upheaval in other countries about implementing voter ID. The most basic thing when it comes to voting FFS.
Naturally, you need to be checked if you're an eligible voter before you can vote, otherwise, any oke who isn't can vote and **** with the system (illegals, tourists, etc).
The arguments in the article against this are plain stupid, they range from "But it's going to oppress the poor and minorities" to "Getting ID is hard".
Shem, if we as SA with a near-destroyed Home Affairs can get IDs and where 30% of the population live in poverty can get those ID and have them when voting then...

I don't think you're even allowed to vote here unless you have your actual ID on you, not even a driver's or whatever.
