Greetings. We have just returned from several years abroad. The complex I live in are committed to a fibre supplier, but due to various problems they will not be ready for 3 to 6 months. I need a reasonable priced solution that will handle normal surfing activity plus stream movies, DSTV etc. and that will not require a long term commitment. I would appreciate suggestions. Many thanks.

I'd say go for the the rain uncapped sim option for R250pm, get a b618 router, and a poynting xpol 6. You'll need the ts9 to SMA adapters to plug the antenna into the router.

We manage to get 80mbps down on this set up when it's positioned in the right area. The only thing is that it cuts off from 6-11pm, besides that, it's uncapped, so for 250 rand a month it's more than worth it.

We have a good ADSL line to use during peak time, but if you don't have that available, go for a capped package with MTN fixed LTE, you can use both sims in that router.

If Rain 5g is available then I believe that is a no brainer, go for that.

I went to a Cell C shop, bought a portable mifi modem (works off a rechargeable battery, works for about 3 hours before needing charging from a plug or via a USB port on a computer, and is great during load-shedding). The SiM in the modem is loaded with Cell C prepaid Gb, valid for a year. There are various Cell C 365-day Gb packages, cheapest per Gb rate is the one for R2000, 200 Gb (R10/Gb).
