Broadband, Options.

Well, Seeing this new price war flaring in the distance, i myself (although a pride Jawugger) have decided to investigate in getting myself a internet line.

There are a few problems i have and was wondering who can help me please.

1. What Line Would i need for ONLINE GAMING (Me And My Brother Will Be Playing Online Together) ?
2. The Best Company (ISP) That will supply the best ping (I know ping to international is bad but want the ISP that will have the best)
3. The Next Thing is my bandwidth usage, I dont need torrents, maybe one or two big downloads every now and then, usage will mainly be from youtube, myBB and Gaming
4. Best Value For Money ISP.

Analogue Rental = R131
3 GIG Afrihost Account = R87
OR
5 GIG Afrihost Account = R145

thats all your going to need

afrihost is a shaped account not gonna be too good for gaming

Depends what type of gaming your going to be doing.

If its on local servers your option of ISP are a lot more. If your going to be playing on international servers (mmo's, moba's), thenunshaped will help but is not essential.

For international gaming an ISP running on saix is preferable to IS...so webafrica, cybersmart, axxess are good choices for gaming from what ive experienced.

As for line speed, a 4meg line as said above would be ideal, although you could prolly get away with a 512. But, the value for money on the 4meg line is far superior. to that of the 512, as you pay about R100 (?) extra for a line that's alot faster and can handle alot more bandwidth.

And if you two will be using the line, you would prolly want to aim for a 5gig+ cap.

Yeh agreed, as to axxess im interested in there offering of the 384 line, then its unshaped after 8 or 6pm and on weekends something like that, sounds like a more viable option, not too keen on screamer, as some comments i have heard are not good, but thanks for the help will look into it some more

You might be surprised. I game on SAIX and with Screamer WiMax and it runs like a charm.(so far)

My experience with online gaming extends to guild wars and on my 386 account it worked just fine... This is with telkomisp.
