Hi guys

I have a friend with an adsl line in a block of flats and another mate without an adsl line in the same block of flats..

I have heard a thing or two about sharing internet via the powerlines and I thought that this would be a great way for my 2 friends share the same adsl line in their block of flats.

Is there a place/website where I can start from in order to find out how to do the above?

thanks

In this case you're probably looking for "ethernet over powerlines" rather than broadband over power lines. The "broadband" bit is still ADSL but you could use ethernet over powerlines to share the connection and have a bit of a LAN. Digitalplanet, Sybaritic and Miro all sell this kind of equipment. I'm sure there are other places as well...

Just a warning - I have tried this out before.

Many blocks of flats have a separate transformer for each apartment. If this is the case the ethernet over powerline units will not work

Herm, those things look very nice.

Savage, thats for that warning...I will contact management first and find out

How does the QoS work with those devices...Can the POWERLINE HD ETHERNET ADAPTER make its own pppoe connection?

Where are the flats in relation to each other? Might be easier to just use standard Wifi.

We could use wifi but using electrical cables is so much more fun :)
