Broadband pricing and SEACOM

And WACS will make f*** all difference, so how dare he say it will.

This makes no sense with the price differentials between local and international bandwidth.. last time i checked the margin between the two, which can be bought separately from any provider, is a lot more than 25%. To me its sounds like IS is trying to justify their current cost.

"a more competitive telecoms market" <-- funny.. when gov tries to impose regulations for anti-competitive behaviour, let alone sign new entrants, these same guys whine
 
If international bandwidth constitutes 25% of the cost, then it stands to reason that it should only cost 25% more than local bandwidth. But it currently costs over 300% more... am I missing something here? :confused:
 
We are the gravy train which has been feeding Telkom, Vodacom and MTN. Look at how big these companies are worldwide!

Now that other providers have been licensed they're not looking to dismantle the system. Did you know that interconnect fees are paid to you when a call is made into your network... so Cell C is still getting that R1.25 when it connects a call from MTN/ Vodacom... everyone wins!

With the high prices were all paying for internet access, telephony, tv etc these companies would be fools to start dropping prices.
 
I think whats more sad is,

I wont leave SA because of the crime, crap education system, expensive living costs.

I will leave SA so I can get a better broadband connection!

I agree with the above post, i'd rather just go to sleep and just maybe wake up in 5 years and see a TINY difference, cause thats the facts nothing is happening!

Redunancy can go screw its self, I DONT WANT IT NOR NEED IT simple as that.

And when wacs comes it'll be 100Gbps lit and they'll say, we cant expect this to bring down prices (why? you ask) cause this half hearted back water country we sadly live in (I do love it here reallY) GETS screwed over by every tom DICK/(isp) & harry.

This has tured an already long crap day into an even worse long crap day. /rant

Well no, that would be pretty much next to impossible to accomplish and it would be something that you really don't want to do, but at some stage we would want to say enough is enough, come on it is a common south african tradition to try and get as much out of something as possible for as much as we can and that is very transparent in how things are priced in this country.

How long must we be held hostage by the companies that we make rich.
 
Mybb took us for a ride. A year ago we had an article a day come out. Each one stating that prices would drop like crazy. Then the sooner we got to the launch date, articles were released which said that prices would come down, very slowly.

Its almost as if Mybb is controlled by the corporates.

Post some real news for once. I'm sick of reading press releases and articles which were not written by independent journalists.
 
Why not start with something small, like a mass ping on the Vodacom website to bring it down or something simillar? Move on to burning down Vodaworld in Midrand and then on to bigger things?
