More nails for the Telkom coffin, am I correct in thinking that if they price this right, its bye bye diginet.
 
this is so kewl ... now if only the rest of the country can follow suite ... I will definitely kick telskum to the curb :)
 
I refuse to get happy about this yet. It took a while for adsl to get to sleepy little East London. It will take aaages to get powerline tech here methinks. Especially if our municipality is in charge of it.
 
Release the Fcuking technology. I want to see it with my own eyes before I get happy and jump up and down.
 
Awesome! I wonder if one can actually get this in the Hatfield/student surrounding area of the University of Pretoria? This would really be an awesome alternative to the muzzle of Telkom!

I wonder how many "well kept secrets" such as this are out there in SA because of Telkom's monopoly.

With telecoms providers fearing the wrath of Poison Ivy if they introduce technology challenging that of Telkom, I wouldn't be surprised if the number is huge.

Anyways, this broadband initiative is great news!!!
 
Expect a law being changed to stop this or a I have been misunderstood utterance from Ivy, all in the name of Terlkoms share price.
I doubt there are any real secrets in this industry with the cross pollination of execs.
The DoC probably had all the info about this but were just to doff to see it hitting them in the head.
 
According to the Article, they're a licensed VAN, it's 100% legal, and there isn't a rotting thing Telkom can do about. Oh except castrate their access to all other networks :p
 
yup. so how do they buy their access and do they get it cheaper ? if not atleast there will be a saving on line rental assuming they have an all incl. price which is cheap.
 
Can't Eskom do the same? Then we would have a country-wide system and only need Telkom for international access. Oh, I forgot Eskom, Telkom brothers under the skin.

Hey guys I got some cool news for ya! My company has been doing some trials in the Northern Suburbs with some amazing results. We unfortunately had to use Telkom for the bandwidth but this will change when we roll out to the market. We will first be targeting Town House / Complex's, estates, shopping malls etc. and then entire towns, cities. But that is if the SNO comes to the party. It will be cheaper in so many ways. No line rental as you already paying Eskom or a municipality for the electrical wire. Phone calls are VOIP and any calls made within the same PLC cell will be free. Internet accounts will be a third of the price of a business DSL 512 with 3G account. Bandwidth will range from 512Kbs - 11Mbs. Installation time will be 10Mins to setup.
I can't give you much more info though but keep an ear open for the near feature.
 
1 post.. sounds suspect. 10 min.. though it is possible on a small scale.
