Broadband shootout

The link to discuss the article doesn't go here.. it goes back to the article.

NeoFlex Data beats Telkom ADSL on price and, with no line installation required, will attract many customers who don't want to wait for a Telkom installation.

FAIL!

Neotel doesn't have any coverage in my area. Telkom does!

I would REALLY like to see some figures. Latency, etc. and price/costs.

Another BS article.
Another BS comparison.

I thought you were being flippant and then I read the article again. Yes, I agree with you, this is an absolutely nothing article. Your average 16 year old could have given you more information about the two products just by reading the specs in the ‘net. They would not have had to even test the damn thing!

they're running out of PR ideas....nothings happening at Neotel...

I'm a telkom fan boy, yes shoot me down but nobody can disagree that Telkom does offer the better connection overall when it comes to internet service providers in SA.

They aren't cheap, well if you use neotell for surfing fine go with the higher cap, but for me latency is important as well as having flexibility if changing ISP's

can't use either neotell has no coverage and telkom refuses to install a line

Watch the 3 Meg Neotel speed drop to 500kbps during peak times. I don't see how it is comparable to 4Meg DSL.

Frankly, we're screwed either way you look at it. Our broadband is so narrow that it can still be compared to dial up. Seriously though, it's like choosing crap and crap - whatever your choice you're bound to end up with crap. You may say that I'm expecting too much, and I'll say that you shouldn't settle for so little. I've got no Neotel coverage in my area and I'm not willing to wait for Telkom to install a line, so I'm stuck with Vodacom 3G, which sucks a lot of the time - sometimes it works fine and then there are those days where I battle to connect or it keeps on dropping the connection. It's 2009 and these are the options we're left with - disgusting. No wonder Microsoft is not even willing to bring Xbox Live to SA - our broadband is a joke.
