Broadband Speeds: SA vs world

RIIGGHHHTTTT! Perspective! Because winners aim low. Because we can feel better if we know we're king of the losers.

Dismal speed, especially upload speed is a sure-fire killer of broad-based e-commerce.
 
I dont care about speed, 1M line suits me fine. I can wait overnight as big downloads go, what I want is cheaper bandwidth.

3GB cap at 20Mb/s at full speed is about 30min of internet. Fun.
 
I am so fed-up with these articles that tells us absolutely nothing new. I understand there is nothing else to write about seeing that nothing happens fast in this country when it comes to the internet, however people, please, find something interesting to write about. Even if it is about the fact that your dog tried to have a c%$p and you scared it and it pulled it all the way back in again (this actually happened to a friends dog). Anything other than a repeat of the same stuff over and over. this place is starting to read like CNN and Sky News sound like.

basically SA is a screw up..... Waiting for my EU passport to arrive and im outta here

Yep, keep on shooting low - why not agitate for BOTH speed and uncapped?

So you like stuttering video, and no effective movie downloads, or text only news!:mad:
 
Look at the bright side it is just another thing that is an epic failure in SA. I realize now that SA is actually a very depressing place for aspiring geeks. :erm:

No, rather perspective as in don't try and compare us to Japan or Korea or any other country in which all residents live in houses and have basic services.

We do not have enough cables running into this country to give us the speeds and price of these countries. Yes, it is not what any of us want to hear, or accept, but it is the case.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I too would love 20Mbps, uncapped at R100 per month but we need to be realistic. I get pissed with everyone who constantly tries to compare us to Japan, the US etc etc.
 
While I appreciate the need for articles on MyBB, especially relevant ones, this is yet more of the same.
SA is behind in broadband speeds
SA is behind in broadband caps
SA is behind in broadband deployment
etc etc etc
We all know this, these articles don't assist.
When will we start seeing articles illustrating how we are overcoming the above limitations?
When, if ever, is government actually going to do something?

Why oh why do people like you even bother existing here (I say existing as your type is not actually living)?

Get out before it is too late for you. Really! I am not being nasty but if that is the way you really feel about this country then you will do more good, for yourself and the rest of us, by just leaving. Honestly, what good can someone like you be for this country? If you were employed and you spoke about your company like that, do you think you would stay employed for long?

Unfortunately we won't as these sort of articles pander to the "needs" of the majority of members on this forum. They want to hear things like this so it makes sense to feed it to them.
