One of our trellidoors (Xpanda? Trellidoor?) just decided to stop unlocking. The key turns to where it should unlock, and it just sticks there. If the door was open, I imagine I could remove the lock, but it's not. How can I replace the lock? Do I drill it out, and if so, with a normal steel bit? Or is this best left to a locksmith?

Considering the cost of a new trellidoor and also the cost of a locksmith, it is a very difficult choice.
Have you tried some Q20 in the lock and let it sit for a while and then jiggle the lock, hopefully it works for you.

Similar problem in Dec 2021, R1200 from Trellidor to come and sort it out.

I opened one, but I suppose I must not say how on here. It took me an hour , and you need to have a new one handy to see what to do.

Can't you drill the lock out?

I've done that with other locks but not sure if it will work on a Trellidoor lock.

Saw this advice on the 4x4 forum "Use a 6mm drill in the centre( top to bottom) of the key slot. Tap gently with punch and the pins will fall down. Turn cylinder 10 degrees with Screwdriver and pull out."

Also found this video which may or may not be useful.

As I said, not done it myself so can't recommend it.

Personally - I would drill through the part at the bottom of the key hole.
The dangly things that make it work live there.

Heed these out, open the door and replace the barrel.

Looks like brass? so any metal bit should do the job ...... but I suppose a bit of oil wont hurt.
disclaimer - I am a textile guy not a thief - so any advice from me is probably rubbish

Thanks guys. Saw some Aussie videos showing how to just break the lock using vice grips,

This is not a standard Euro lock, and breaking it or drilling it won't help at all, especially since I think it's the gate mechanism that has the issue. As Grubscrew suggested, I've got Trellidoor coming our, and they'll replace lock and mechanism.

Lock and mechanism replaced. New lock is much shorter, can't be broken with the vice grips the Trellidoor guys user. It was a 5 min job. they said our trellidoor was over 30 years old.
