Does anyone know of a good browser based ftp client. I usually use Filezilla but I recently started using openrouter which only allows browsing, so I thought I could use a online ftp or file manager to upload files.

What is openrouter exactly? If it's just a proxy setup, you should be able to set up FileZilla to use it if your browser can use it.

It's a browsing only proxy, it allows you to browse internation sites using a local only account.

If it is set for http only then ftp through the browser will not work as the ftp clients require ftp port functionality.

I know that ftp works on a diff port, but what I want is a file manager script where I can upload files. I have an add-on for joomla that allows me to upload files, but if I need to upload a folder with files in it, I first have to create a folder then upload each file individually which takes quite long.

If I could find some sort of file manager script that allows me to drag n drop files on my webserver that would be great. This script doesn't have to be associated with joomla.

If your webhost has installed the latest version of cpanel, then you'll have access to the very nifty "Web Disk" which allows you to easily drag and drop files to your hosting account, just as if it was part of your home computer.

Might be worth looking into?

(ETA: doesn't always play well with Vista, though)

my Cpanel is on a secure port and is blocked by Openrouter. :(

Give Net2Ftp (web based FTP client), a try. I'll look around for a script that will allow a clean "drag-n-drop" interface. . .Had one of them once.

I know about OpenBrowse from OpenWeb, but openroute?

OpenBrowse is the name of the Product, openrouter is the name of the App that's used to connect, it's basically a local proxy server that you install on your pc. It looks very similar to DDProxy, so I suspect that it was developed by antibody, the guy that made "RouteSentry.
