I have the dell studio 1535, and its git vista home-premium 64bit installed

new updates became available, and they installed by themselves...
When i shut down my laptop, it said "please do not switch off or unplug, updates installing... Update 1 of 9"

once my laptop switched off, i started it up again, and boom, surprise.... big BSOD, there was a count-down and it switched off. i tried starting up again.. same thing... i had to restore and it worked... I did the updates again, and same BSOD.

Now i restored and i switched off auto update. Now im wondering, how am i going to update my laptop without BSOD's...

What is the cause of this? Can anybody help me please

Thank u

Get a Mac
Install Linux

Sorry, couldnt resist... thought I'd get those sarcastic comments out of the way. Hopefully others read this post before getting smart ;)

seriously though. Visit the Dell site, they are bound to figure it out sooner than later and post a fix. Give it a month it should be up. Email them to help speed things up. Possibly even phone support.

Hi ID10T

Why people must reply saying install Linux, is beyond me. That is not what he wants to do.

"Back on topic"

I am guessing that there is a specific device that is conflicting with the latest updates. Personally I think you should contact Dell and give them all the information.

They might have other people who have had the exact same problem. Otherwise you could wait a few weeks or two. Perhaps there will be a revision with the "Windows Updates" and that might not BSOD your laptop anymore.

Is your Vista SP1 already installed?

I saw the joke about a BSOD... easiest solution: Get Linux, get an Xbox or something for games.

Really. Being pretty honest.

To maybe try and fix that nasty little BSOD, I think you have some kind of unmet dependancy or something where the computer doesn't like the updates. I suggest you update the updates one by one and check which one results in the BSOD.

i already have Linux... :) (loving it) but i kind of need my Vista, for all my school stuff, and the campus connections and all kinds of useless little things :)

I will check out the Dell site, and contact them about it.
And i have a PS3, going to buy the Xbox one of these days.
