Over a hill and far away...
Hi guys,

I recently upgraded to the X99 platform. I am however getting a BSOD when running certain burn-ins like Prime95 or gaming for an hour or more. IntelBurnIn and Uniengine Heaven worked fine when testing. Can anyone point me in the right direction with how to fix this? My gut says its a PSU issue but need some advice :)

I do monitor temps, it maxes out at about 70 degrees. Also ran a memory test (cant remember the name now) and that turned out fine also.

What memory test did you run?

Use this : http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

Oh and make sure you got your RAM timings set manually. Many times I have solved RAM issues what were set to AUTO in the BIOS. Often a timing can be off, even voltages in rare case.

Set the timings manually (check the manufacturers website for timings) and run that Memtest86 to remove the possibility of the issue being RAM.

There really needs to be a sticky about troubleshooting threads.

You need to give your full system specs (actual models of components and OS) for us to give you more useful feedback. Without those we can only blindly guess common things.

It could be a PSU issue, but that will be more or less likely depending on the size and brand/model of your PSU and how much power your system draws. A good quality PSU of sufficient wattage will suggest that it is a different problem (though of course even good quality PSU's do fail too).

Here, though, are some common things to try:

Reset BIOS to defaults.
Update BIOS.
Make sure no overclocking programs are running in the background (many manufacturers bundle them with their motherboards).

Thanks guys, I will run Memtest86 tonight. It's the one I ran previously with no issues :)

If I get a BSOD again I will post the code and my system specs for further feedback.

Hi guys,
just a bit of feedback for all those that tried to help me.

I recreated the BSOD and the error code is 0x00000101. Further investigation points to some corruption in the Windows install. My next step will be to reinstall Windows (prob over the weekend) and see if the error returns.

My money is on this NOT being the issue

I bet this is related to power supply issues which is resulting from a short on your GPU.
So in 'short' your gpu is shorting your system when under load.

The main reason I say this is because I had the same issue.
I ran memtest for 4 days and only on the 4th day did it start popping up problems.
I thought it was mem but after various replaced dimms, replaced psu, replaced mb, etc. I finally got a new card via RMA and it solved everything.
