Hi guys.

Hoping you can help me with this.

Here is a bit of history. A while back, when win7RC was released, I tried it on dual boot with my XP(both 64x and 32x).
The problem was that after the installation, when in Win7, about 10 minutes in I get a BSOD saying "uncorrectable hardware error".
This occured before I even had a chance to install any drivers.

I thought that it might be the the RC and that I should wait for the retail version to hit the shelves... well it wasn't the issue.
Yesterday I went and got myself Windows7Ultimate64x. Got home last night and after installing it I got the same BSOD...sigh. :(

I'm thinking it might be the hdd since it's quite a old 80Gb sata drive... thats where I install my OS's on OR it might be my CPU.
I have run memtest on both the memory sticks and the results were 100%.
The weird thing is why would it run XP fine if there is a hardware issue?? That's what leads me to think it might be the hdd?

Has it happened to any of you? Got any ideas?

Here is what I'm running:
Gigabyte ODIN 585W
AMD Phenom 9600 2.3Ghz
2X 2GB Transcend aXeRam DDR2-800
XFX HD4870 1GB XXX
DFI DK 790FX-M2RS
80Gb Seagate Sata
250Gb Seagate Sata

There are several things that could give you this error. Try running chkdsk on the HDD to see if its about to die on you. Otherwise I know of people that have changed their memory timings in the BIOS (to slower speeds) and thats solved the problem. Seems like a very random error that could mean anything really.

do you get the log after you boot into win7 again? save it to a text file and mail it to microsoft or google the error code.

If the hard drive was faulty, Windows 7 would say so even before you installed it onto the drive. In the installation, it usually tells you if there is a problem with the drive just before you format the drive or after you format the drive.

-You can try start the PC up without ANY extra cards that are not vital for running the PC.
-Try running with 1 stick of RAM
-If overclocking, turn all overclocking to default values
-Borrow a chip of RAM from a friend and try that

The above have helped me determine what my problem was before -> Turned out to be a USB WiFi NIC

Hey thanks for all the advice guys.

Last night something must of died in my pc... Nothing displayed on my monitor and I got a error code on the motherboard.
I started testing what part it might be... so far the RAM, HDD are fine. When I get back from work I will test the rest.

Google the error code?

Run HDD sentinal on Hirens.. will give u the HDD's health... "chkdsk /p /r" MIGHT be able to recover some errors on the HDD, worth a try, just be prepared to wait a bit of time for it to complete..

try boot without the graphics card, use onboard if you have, sometimes win7 and ati cards just wont gell for no apparent reason.
