BT Games - Rental System!

BT games rental

I just cancelled my games rental service with BT games. I was with them for 1 and 1/2 yrs and spent R3600 on game rental (R200 per month option) but noticed i was not playing all the games i took and ended up buying the games i liked anyways. For those who have a lot of time to play games and kill off (complete) 2/3 games per month, its way worht it. If u like collecting games, and play and complete games less regular than that, then buying games is a better options especially when game sales come along.

I was priviledged to get 3 games at a time for R200 but cancelling for me made sense! I now have R2400 per year extra to spend on games :). Need to hand in my games by end of August as this is my last month - am enjoyin wolverine (360), street fighter 4 (360) and sonic riders gravity (wii).

All in all, its a cool service and its nice to look forward to a cool game that became available and also to bring back a game that just didnt work for u.

thanx W0lver1n3, i was on the fence bout the whole rental thing, cuz i dont game 4/5 hours a day , only on weekends, and maybe 1 or 2 evenings in the week. so it makes sense buying the games. i still havent finished Fallout or Mass Effect...so if i have 2 or 3 extra games in a month in my house, i would go crazy.

Do they still do this? I tried to register but I can't seem to get the registration finished.

Yea, they do, their website is totally screwed though..or their system. I suggest go into the store you're planning to rent from and sort it out there.

I'm on the R99 option and so far i'm quite happy, i've played about 3-4 games a month. Some were crap, some were great...but that's cool thing about rentals, no risk, if you don't like it, you take it right back and get something else. I've played games i would never have considered for purchase, and enjoyed them and likewise games that are AAA titles 90% reviews which i hated..

Currently i'm more onto the PC games again, so i'm probably playing 1 game a month tops...but if you consider a new game costs R699 , that is 7 months rental sub right there.

I've also actually had almost no problem getting the games i wanted, but don't bother with the online wishlist, it is broken to hell, go into the store and tell them to reserve it there. And they do actually get a game from another store if need be.

Well, you must consider wolverine was on the R200 option, which is not the option you need if you're gaming casually. R99 a month = R1200 a year. That is TWO / THREE games a -year- tops which you can buy.
Now for R99 you can rent 3-4 games a MONTH , if you're casual, you can rent 1 game a month and R99 is -still- worth it imho. I mean where can you BUY a game for R99 every month?

Also keep in mind, this covers Xbox 360 , PS3 , Wii , PSP , DS-Lite ....consoles, same account.

And remember, console games cost R699 ....R2400 = 3-4 games max ....that's not alot for a year of "savings" . Obviously if you ARE only going to buy 3 games a year, great, but then run into the issue of buying the wrong games and then there's no turning back ;)

I couldn't register or create a wishlist with Firefox but Google Chrome worked perfectly. Created a wishlist, and registered about 10minutes ago.

Be sure to read my rant about canceling the rental contract.
