Hi Guys,

I am looking into getting a gaming PC but i don't have a lot of cash to throw around. I know i can't build a beast PC on a cash strapped budget but i use a laptop at the moment and i'm sure i can get something better than that. I pretty much only play CS:GO so i would need something best suited for that. I don't need something pretty, I am so tired of all the fps loss i keep getting on my laptop. In terms of budget i'm looking around R5500 i know its not much but its a start.

Could you guys give me suggestions for what to get and what would be best for CS:GO?

Thanks in advance guys.

*Side note* im pretty noob at this so use simple english for me please

I Need to get a monitor and keyboard but that i will be above the R5500 (any good cheap recomendations would be appreciated too). I don't have anything so need a box, mobo, cpu, gpu, psu, ram and hdd. I had a box buy it got stolen and replaced it with a laptop. The want about 8gigs of ram and 1TB HDD but not too phased about HDD space as i will just keep movies and series on my laptop and this PC will be gaming only.

Any chance of stretching your budget a bit?

I posted this in another thread but it excludes case, psu & hdd (can't maybe organise these from a mate that has lying around?),

Motherboard (R1495): http://www.wootware.co.za/asrock-z97-pro4-intel-z97-chipset-socket-1150-atx-desktop-motherboard.html
CPU (R849): http://www.wootware.co.za/intel-g32...evil-s-canyon-socket-lga1150-desktop-cpu.html
RAM (R671): http://www.takealot.com/crucial-bal...r-ddr3-1866-gaming-memory-4gb-re/PLID30709177
GPU (R2399): http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...rd-includes-2-free-games-amd-silver-tier.html
Total: R5414

For OC further than stock cooler provides:
CPU Cooler (R327): http://raru.co.za/electronics/9040-zalman-cnps10x-optima-shark-s-fin-blade-cpu-cooler
Total: R5741

With this build you could always upgrade to future i5 CPUs later on when you have some more funds but it will give you good gaming performance as is.

We could potentially chip away at the above, ie H series MB that is overclockable for this cpu, lower spec GPU.

I could stretch my budget but not by much. What size power supply would i need? And where is the best place to get a cheap case? Gonna get a monitor from a friend but the case, psu and keyboard i have to buy. The HDD i can just get a cheaper smaller sized one for now and upgrade at a later stage so it doesn't worry me too much. With ram is 4gigs enough?

Have you looked at the link I posted?
It has prices and supplier references.

Wesley knows what he's talking about.

What about Spreading the load and getting like two parts a month? or will it just mean i have an outdated pc by the time i am done?

would you consider the 2nd hand market or are you looking for new only

I have looked at gumtree but haven't found anything. Would consider getting a second hand tower but not so much parts. Not sure tho anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I was in a similar predicament a few years back. I opted to go for a straight over the count build from a PC shop here in Durban. Saved up some more cash and changed the PSU and Mobo plus I added in some RAM. Costed me about R7k eventually with a GeForce 550ti.

Right now I would advise going with the Pentium G but getting it with a 500w+ PSU. If money is really tight you could go with a stock PSU and plug in a 750ti.

I think this will be just fine to be honest.
You are asking for budget here so don't talk about future proofing.
I have a i5 2500k, 660TI 2GB oc gpu, ssd.
I don't see myself upgrading for a while even though the system is almost 3 years old now.
I can still run everything on high or ultra.

Work within your limitations and buy what you are happy spending on.

imo at the moment you want a nice gpu to take most of the load.
Invest in a decent Radeon card as they are by far the best bang for your buck at the moment.

Gumtree is kack.
Go to Carbonite and register.
You will find many great deals with guys that are rated on Carb.
Just don't jump into a sale, research the seller via carb.

If I were you, I would keep saving up for a few months or more until I have enough fund to spend on a brand new R12K rig. It would last 5 - 6 years before it becomes obsolete. Patience is the key.

I don't think that R12k should be everyone's goal spend.
It can be done for much less.
It all depends on what you expect from the system.
You can get very similar performance from a R6k machine.

Really? Show me how it's possible.

I think this whole spend a fortune mentality is quickly loosing steam.
Component manufacturers realize that price for performance is key now.
