Budget PC around R 15k

~R250 Proper DVD Writer perhaps ?
~R1000 - any decent 700W power supply should be more than adequate, they're around R1000 odd I think.
~R1300 - Razer Blackwidow mechanical ?
~R700 - Can get decent gaming mouse for as little as R600 odd....
~R1100 - consider something like the ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 (also PCI-EX) ?

Trims off around R5500.

Add a display, smart guy. Even an el-cheapo mouse and KB for 1800 as you suggest with a cheap screen of R3000 is still close to 5000.

Oh you were including the display in that? Okay fair enough but still I'd see if I could stretch a mech kb. It's a vast difference if you are a good typist.

Definitely the other way around. The SSD is for your Windows install. Some games can see an improvement in load times if you install them on an SSD but in general it's a waste since they are so expensive. You install Windows (or Linux if you're a hipster) on it to improve system responsiveness.

I tend to mix my install location depending how big the game file is. For smaller games like Ori I just load them onto the SSD so they boot up much faster. It does make a difference to have the game on SSD but like you say, rather use the hard drive for that if space is an issue.

I use Corsair Vengeance RAM in my build. I think it's about R900 for an 8GB stick. Maybe a bit more expensive than the generic RAM, but still way under what you would pay for those elite gaming RAM sticks.

Always used sound cards I'll have to skip in this round though, but will add one later. Dono if it really makes a difference tbh. Maybe just more of a habit and less of an issue to have to find the drivers if you re-install. I once had on-board which used Realtec drivers... OMFG what a mission it was to get it working again on re-installs...

+1 to this. Havent checked PSU prices lately but a Corsair 650w should be R1000 or below. As for a mouse. Takealot has the Logitech g300 now for R300 odd. Which is a decent mouse aswell.
