Hey Guys,

Helping out a mate as he wants to buy 2x new pcs and has a budget of about R5k each. This is what I have so far... I would like to get everything from one shop, then he only has to pay one place. :) They will be used for gaming, movies and music... And the occasional school work, we all know how kids are. :D

CPU - Intel E6500
Mobo - Gigabyte G41
Memory - Corsair value select
GPU - Radeon 4830
HDD - Seagate 500GB
DVD Writer - Samsung
Case + PSU - CM Case + 420w
Speakers - Logitech Z4

Only one pc needs the speakers, so that is excl from the R5k budget. I think that 420w should be enough for this pc...?

What brand PSU?
I would spend the most amount of money on that if it means things won't explode :P

Not too sure what PSU the one that comes with the case is, I've only ever seen Cooler Master 350watt ones bundled with CM cases (they are better quality than most cheapies but only serve for the purpose of basic home/office PCs). I tend to not trust cheapie PSUs for powering graphics cards(/more specialised PCs) that require additional 6-pin power. I would rather recommend you go for a case without bundled PSU and then get this Vantec ION2+C 460watt PSU - http://www.prophecy.co.za/vantec-watt-power-supply-p-34606.html - a much better investment with 2 year warranty, sleeved cables, dedicated 6-ping GPU power cable, looks great.

Secondly I would suggest they squeeze out a bit more for an HD4850, does not cost much more than the HD4830 and well worth it in performance - http://www.prophecy.co.za/sapphire-hd4850-512mb-gddr3-256bit-pcie-p-34670.html.

Thirdly I would suggest an ATX case instead of micro-ATX like the CM Elite 334, my favourite - http://www.prophecy.co.za/coolermaster-elite-with-side-window-panel-p-38682.html.

Logitech Z4s are awesome. They're gonna want them for both PCs. :D

+1 on the 4850

For +- R200 more you can get a Quad AMD Athlon. If it was me, ill go the AMD way. Better bang for ure buck.

The Intel dual core would probably be faster. :D Jokes.

Would be a good move to future proof. Decent AMD mobos are quite a bit more pricey than Intel. Unless you're happy with 2 x SATA.

Thanx guys for all the input, but I would like to stick to Intel.

@PostmanPot, thanx for your input, will have a look at your changes and if possible, use it. :D

With the changes of PP and then new prices on some of the parts, the price for 1x pc is R5800+-, which is to high. If you guys are in the mood, post what you would get with a R5k budget.

They already have screens, keyboard, mouse and windows licenses.
