Chill on plans for NHI
Treasury also announced that the health budget will be reduced by R3.9 billion over the next three years.
“This implies that some activities related to national health insurance will be phased in over a longer timeframe.”
For example, next year, unspent allocations for national health insurance (NHI) will be moved to other parts of the health budget.
“If we are going the pension route it must be all of us. It can’t (only be) public servant pensions (on the line), it must be all pensions.”
No vat increase

Not at all what I expected. A fairly forward thinking budget. However the big saving is supposed to come out of state worker salaries. It remains to be seen if they are capable of pulling that off. Still, I can't complain. Medical tax credits still there, tax rate drop. Relatively small hike to fuel price. Overall it leaves me off better. Thank you mr Mboweni. A budget that finally prioritizes the middle class, which in the long run will help the country I hope.
What's more it'll probably create 1000s of jobs in the insurance, law enforcement and ambulance chasing industries.Scrap the RAF, it's a waste of money. 3rd Party should be compulsory (yes a decent 3rd party covers medical as well before people come and moan.)
Do enlighten us. Or would you have preferred a hike on middle class tax, a big petrol price increase, and an acceleration of NHI?Damn many coolaid drinkers in this forum.
This budget speech will not not leave you off better, holy hell some people actually have no idea what they just witnessed.
