Have a craving for buffets - ones where it's self-service and one can indulge to ones heart's content (or inevitably unfortunately over-indulge). Any suggestions? This could be a running list. I live in Pretoria so only interested in those but feel free to suggest any further afield.

The only buffet I ever enjoyed was the Cathedral Peak breakfasts and dinners. Find the restaurants in malls to serve cold, overcooked and poor quality food.

But anyway. You can try Food Chain in Menlyn. And I know a place Parkview used to do it as well. Meat something something.

Adegas in Bryanston does an amazing Sunday buffet. Pretty much everything that's on their normal menu is on their buffet. A bit of a drive though for you

There used to be one in Hermanus 3 course buffet on Sundays used to have prawns I wish I could have some prawn today.

Dros at Montana Crossing does a buffet on Sundays.

You have to book a table though... the place is full of pensioners who gets a nice discount price on the buffet :)

But the quality is not there and at R155 pp I wont go back though :/

Speaking of Buffets - is there still a Boma in Alberton?

Nope, the burned out shell is still sitting there - it's an eye sore - and I spoke to the councillor about it the other day.

They also used to have The Mad Platter at The Lemon Tree Mall - but that closed down because the staff kept going on strike.

The food at both the Boma and Mad platter was not great anyway...

The Mad Platter was awesome - even just for the ribs alone.
The Biltong Mushroom soup was divine... with all that fresh bread.
The good thing was their food was replaced on a 2 hour schedule unlike other restaurants which only replace on a 4 hour schedule.

The food at the Boma made me sick - twice - (years ago - I never went there again after that).

The food lovers market in Centurion has a lekka buffet. I go there on Sundays for my release meal.

Maybe I went on a bad day... Went for one of our work functions. 2 years ago.

Yeah I remember when we had Adega here in Cape Town.

Cattle Baron Durbanville on a Sunday is always good. Some people have complained, but perhaps it's just my luck.

Jayz Grill on a Friday evening in Pietermaritzburg is fair value and has something for all tastes.

I went about 10 years ago to the Boma in Alberton, wasn't so bad.
