One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilée Heads To Auction This Week

The Bugatti Chiron Profilée is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for car collectors and enthusiasts. With the production of all Bugatti models – including the recently launched W16 Mistral, the Bolide and all Chiron models – sold out, this auction by RM Sotheby’s in Paris on February 1st is the last chance to own a new Bugatti hyper sports car with its iconic W16 engine directly from the Atelier in Molsheim.

Crafted with an exquisite hand-woven leather interior, bespoke aerodynamics, and specially designed wheels, the Chiron Profilée is a truly one-of-a-kind car. With stunning Argent Atlantique paint and Bleu Royal Carbon tint on exposed carbon fibre, the Profilée also features a custom wheel design inspired by Bugatti’s famous horseshoe grille.

Powered by Bugatti’s 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine, the Profilée boasts a top speed of 380 km/h, which is higher than the Chiron Pur Sport and can reach 100 km/h from rest in just 2.3 seconds matching the Chiron Pur Sport.

Bugatti Chiron Profilée Becomes Most Expensive New Car Ever Sold At Auction

It is no secret that the Chiron has been an enormous success for the french marquee as all the 500 slots have been spoken for.

They decided to create a one-off pre-series model called the Chiron Profilée which has paid off. Big time.

The team from RM Sotheby’s was entrusted to auction off the special creation which saw the hammer drop at a staggering €9,792,500 (approx. R184 million). Remember, this price does not include VAT which would see the final price hit as much as €11m or €12m (R225 million).

According to Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac, this now holds the world record for the most expensive new car sold at auction.

The final price of the Chiron Profilée is pretty close to the La Voiture Noire and since it is the very last brand-new Bugatti equipped with a W16 engine this could be even more special.

Whoever forked out that sensational number will be very happy to have this in their collection. Let’s hope it is actually driven from time to time but that is highly unlikely.

Bugatti has laid an egg just in time for Easter! Only it's made from carbon fibre and costs £160k

The French carmaker has teamed up with jeweller Asprey to help people with too much money

In the latest evidence that parents need to watch what they say to their children, French carmaker Bugatti and London jeweller Asprey have collaborated on a fancy egg, because Ettore Bugatti’s dad liked them.

The carbon fibre ‘objet egg’ will be a strictly limited edition trinket, with just 111 of them set to be made, costing from £16,000 to £40,000 each. The final 10, though, will come with extra bits glued on and cost from £160,000. But in a special two for one deal, you get to buy the egg and also receive a pretend one in NFT blockchain form. It’s being pitched as digital art, but think of it more as a fancy receipt.

And why an egg? The 19th century furniture and jewellery designer, Carlo Bugatti, apparently once remarked that “the purest perfect shape of nature is the egg”, although most quotes leave out the following part, which was “Ettore, can you pass me the salt?” The distinctive rounded shape of the Bugatti grille is said to have been inspired by the family’s appreciation of the egg form.

The Royale Edition egg produced by Asprey gets a shell made from carbon fibre, encased in a sterling silver lattice that’s studded with diamonds. The surface of the egg is then studded with tiny dancing elephants, inspired not by Disney film Fantasia but by the mascot of the luxurious Bugatti Type 41 Royale, which was itself based on a sculpture designed by Ettore’s brother Rembrandt (typical overachieving family).

How’s that for a collection? Bugatti owner brings record-winning trio home to Molsheim

The historical home of Bugatti, more formally known as Château Saint Jean, has become something of a pilgrimage for Bugatti enthusiasts.

Located near Molsheim in France, not too far from the German border, this is where Bugatti’s modern hypercars are built, but it’s also a historic site with an inextricable link to company founder Ettore Bugatti, who bought and renovated this Château as a place to welcome customers and introduce them to the lifestyle of Bugatti.

In modern times it continues to welcome a few very fortunate people from all over the world, and recently one very loyal Bugatti owner paid an extraordinary visit.

This long-time Bugatti customer has carefully curated a collection of rare Bugatti vehicles, including each of the World Record Cars, namely the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition, Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition and Chiron Super Sport 300+1.

His dream to reunite them with the place where they came to life, and the team who made it possible, recently came true when the three record-breaking hypercars were carefully driven up to the Château Saint Jean. They were joined by other rarities from The Singh Collection, Punjab, India: the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang and the Divo.

This one-off Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ‘Golden Era’ is a 273mph sketchpad

Owner customises their W16-engined hypercar with Bugatti’s icons

To be reductive, this is a gold Bugatti Chiron Super Sport bearing a few sketches on the side; a rare car made rarer still via a bespoke exterior treatment commissioned by its owner and realised via Bugatti. It is called the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ‘Golden Era’.

Delve a little deeper however, and there’s a bit of history etched into its flanks. Quite literally, because this golden Bugatti carries some of the brand’s iconic cars drawn onto its body.

A ‘very special customer’ wanted to pay tribute not only to the Chiron SS, but also the outgoing W16 engine. Bugatti’s team – led by former design boss Achim Andscheidt – pored through the archives to pick out a few special cars.

They were picked from Bugatti’s two ‘golden eras’: the first being the time of Ettore, Jean and Roland Bugatti, the second from 1987 onwards and include things like the Type 57 SC Atlantic, EB110 and the Veyron.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Golden Era

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 'Golden Era' is perhaps the most challenging bespoke project that Bugatti has ever undertaken. It is the result of two years of innovative and bespoke craftsmanship, featuring entirely new techniques that elevate it from the world of automotive and into pure artistry. It is the very embodiment of the Bugatti Sur Mesure offering, in which customers' ambitious visions for their vehicles - which stretch beyond the already near-infinite levels of Bugatti customization - are brought to life in a collaborative process with the design team.

In this case, that vision came from a Bugatti collector with a deep appreciation for Bugatti history and for the intricate engineering of the W16 engine. Not only did he choose a Chiron Super Sport to celebrate the combustion engine design, but he wanted to appropriately pay homage to the history that had led to the creation of this engine. With this vision presented to Bugatti, the design team developed a proposal that captured the essence of what makes Bugatti special, told through its most memorable and extraordinary creations. And the result is: 'Golden Era'.

Achim Anscheidt, former Bugatti Design Director in charge of this creation, explains the ideation's starting point: "Our customers can be incredibly creative and we take great pride in helping them realize what they dream of, but extensive special commissions such as this are exceedingly rare - we usually see no more than one or two creations on this scale each year. Given the vision and exacting nature for this project - and the fantastical ideation we wanted to realize - 'Golden Era' is probably the most demanding piece of tailored personalization work that my team and I have ever worked on.
