Build a PC for under 11K

11K - me thinking 4850, q6600, 4 GB ram, p45 mobo, 750 GB hdd, good case you like for about R1000, 540w psu. I'm sure you will have change - if you do, get more ram, bigger hdd, maybe a 4870, etc...

...too lazy to work out prices - hey, it's friday ok!

Why is everyone still going for the q6600? I think they are very over priced and when I bought my pc earlier this year, gaming performance was better on the E8400 than with the Q6600 and nothing has changed...

Personally if your a gamer... I don't see the advantages of getting a quad...."yet"

What I would need the PC for would be video editing, photo editing and gaming.
So most likely a quad would be best.

Depends on the program you are going to use, but yeah, might be a better idea.

the q6600 is extremely overclockable - can get it to run at 3.5 GHz if you got a decent mobo and cooling..

I like Seagates but the 7200.10 series was much better than the current 7200.11 in speed and reliability.
