Today I heard great news....someone special I know will buy my next gaming rig for me :D, I just need to give a quote on what I need. I'm glad as I have to buy my own computer usually and I'm only a high school student :/.

Anyway the absolute max is R 18 000 on the dot nothing over. However besides the rig I need the following as this is what the person wants:

- 2 LCD screens (im thinking about the Samsung T220 around R 2249 per screen but any other suggestions? However 22 inch is what im looking for)
- 1 Gaming Mouse ( I suggest a Razer Lachesis which is on average about R 700)
- 1 Gaming Mouse pad (Razor Goliathus which is R 175)
- 1 Keyboard (about R200)
- 1 Headset (Thinking about the Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1 which come about to R 600)

This leaves me with about R 11 000 max for a pc (need the left over money in case the others are more than the above)

Anyway I need to know what would you recommend I get for R 11 000? (box only) Also does anyone know of good companies to get quotes from to compare prices. Thinking of going the i7 way but some say that the i7 is over rated and quad is fine but I tend to disagree. Also I should consider Windows 7 but it will cost about R 1750 or something which really does put me off horribly so I might for once in my life bypass that :/.

Anyway thanks in advance

Where are you situated? If you're gonna game 99% of the time, get a 955BE and a 5870... Overclock the crap out of it too. i7 leaves you with next to no money for a decent kickdonkey graphics card.

Dude i7 FTW! show me another R2500 cpu that can do 4.4GHz..on AIR!

have to agree with reddevilandy - i7 mobo+ram is quite a bit!

955BE + 5870/5850 will be good!

What about an i5 rig? They perform excellently for gaming and they are cheaper than i7

Lol...I'm just fantasizing about the rig I would have if I had 11k to smoke. By the way, 2 P2370s would be awesome too...

Rough estimates:
Asus 1366 mobo R2506
Core i7 CPU R 2781
6GB RAM (3x2GB) (R427 X3) R1281
1TB HDD R751
HD5850 R3142
Case R500
PSU R1200
TOTAL: R 12161.00 You could possibly bring this down more by going 2nd hand on some of the stuff or you could get better quotes from the like of Postmanpot , Eitai, Antowan...DJNgoma etc.....
GL bro I envy you

Well I'm using both the Q6600 and the Core i7 920 and I can tell you that the i7 provides a more enjoyable experience (might be the bigger overclock though :p).

That's definitely the best option.

As for monitors get the samsung 2433bw.

+1 to wat reddevil and qwkslvr said.

go for an amd chip.

you just need a "good" chip for gaming, not the top of the range. the gpu will make all the diff.

amd is cheaper, and the higher-end ones will be perfect for gaming. then pair that with a kickass gfx card!

Have a look at the Samsung P2350 LCD's for about R1700.

For your mouse requirements I'm going to ask you to try a Prestigio PJ-MS03 at R150 which beats the Logitech MX-310 & MX-518 lying in my drawer. They have even newer models out, http://www.prestigio.com/

Ok well I'm located in Centurion (next to pretoria basically)....at the moment im not to fond of overclocking due to the fact of reduced life, possibly major damage can anyone shed light on the matter and where do most of you in the centurion/pretoria/joburg area buy your hardware?

Thxs man. Will see if I can get quotes from other companies. However i need to make the R 11 000 mark but could extend it to R 11 500 if I get cheaper screens.
