I am on a strict budget and here is the list i have drawn up:

CPU: i3 2120 3.3GHz http://ark.intel.com/products/53426/Intel-Core-i3-2120-Processor-(3M-Cache-3_30-GHz)
Board: MSI - H61M-P21 (B3) http://msi.com/product/mb/H61M-P21--B3-.html
Graphics: MSI ATI R6850 1GB Cyclone Power OC Edition http://msi.com/product/vga/R6850-Cyclone-1GD5-Power-Edition-OC.html
RAM: 4GB DDR3
PSU: 500 Watt
Drive: 500GB Windows Drive & 1TB Slave Drive

Is this good enough to handle games like Battlefield 3, Need For Speed: The Run, Saints Row?

That CPU is probably going to freak out at the sight of BF3 (at any reasonable quality, that is).

its not worth it to buy a gaming rig on a budget these days... if you buy on budget you will always only be able to play the game 65%-75% of its potential...games are looking to good and you have to enjoy the game at full settings anything of R10k and upwards is going to be worth it...

just my opinion :D if i were you i would save R4000 more than what your budget is right now and do it properly... your rig will then last you about a year or so longer... ;)

At the moment i have:

CPU: E7400 2.8 Core 2 Duo
Board: MSI - G41
Graphics: MSI ATI R6850 1GB Cyclone Power OC Edition
RAM: 4GB DDR3
PSU: 500 Watt
Drive: 500GB Windows Drive & 1TB Slave Drive

There are G41 motherboards that use DDR3. You're gonna see a great improvement in gaming and general performance upgrading to the Core i3.

What does the CPU have to do with decent graphics quality?
i3 chips perform at equivalent levels to its faster brothers at HD resolutions in BF3, minimum fps does suffer a tiny bit (around 5%) however. This is during single player, multi player will likely put some more strain on the CPU, however I do not think the difference will be that great.

@OP, if you can still find a phenom quad, that may be a viable alternative. Otherwise the i3 you're looking at is the only real choice at that price point.

The i3 2120 i have chosen is quite a good CPU, from benchmarks i have read it out performs some i5's. So i rate it is a great CPU for that price!

Just a thought. Seeing that i have an AMD ATI Card, should i just not go full AMD for my system? I can get a better CPU and board for the same price. I have never used an AMD system so i cant say if its decent or not

You still haven't told us what your budget is :(
