Ladies and Gents.....

I've taken the first steps to building my Gaming PC. Right now I'm looking at a CPU. The CPU's I'm considering are the i7 7700k, i5 7600k and the ryzen 1800x.

I've been doing some research and I'm considering the 7600k coz it's a lot cheaper which means I can put that money towards a graphics card.

I seriously need help with making this decision.
I haven't exactly set a budget but if I can save money in one part of my pc to out towards a graphics card I can get a 1080. Lol.

Thanks.

I would ignore the 7600k. Either go with the 7700k or go with a Ryzen 1600/x.

You don't really need a 1800x for a gaming PC as it''ll likely be overkill unless you plan on doing live streaming using a software encoder.

Or just a normal 7700 for ~R3500.

Why ?

Ryzen 5 is just a much wiser option in this segment, buying a 4 core/4 thread part over a 6 core/12 thread part makes little sense. The 7700k still has a market if you're looking for the highest possible frame rates if you need every last frame for a 144Hz monitor for instance and still has some headroom as it has 8 threads.

@Soul Assassin
Nope not going to overclock.

@DrJohnZoidberg
Not going to stream. I didn't even consider looking at the 1600, i shall have a look at that processor as well.

I think i'm going to get the 7700 from mineaway coz that's gonna save me some cash.

Another question....
My cousin's wife bought him a GTX980ti but he had no use for it coz he has a 1080 so he gave it to me. Considering that i'm building a pc that's going to be used 90% of the time for gaming, would it be a good idea to use the card or try an sell it and get a high end 10 series?

I see you have it listed for R10000.

Never going to happen, try and sell it for a reasonable price, add some cash and get a 10 series.

What cooler do you guys suggest for the 1600x? I've been looking at the Cooler master Hyper TX3 evo.
I'm not one of those people who overclocks things. So I don't see the point in spending money on a liquid cooler.

Thanks was just wondering, I've got the 7600k and it's great for gaming.

Here's a great video on the topic:

Yeah I reckon Ryzen is great.

Now if you're on a tight budget though and shop around you gonna buy a i7-7700 from potterh for the same price as a r5 1600, get a MB for R700 vs R1400 and maybe pay less for ram as well. The above video deals with an i5 and states that an i7 will negate change the story.

If your budget permits you should go r5 1600, if there was no potterh cpu specials i would not even mention intel.
