I thought that I was safe in my house and that my belongings were safe as well. Last night however, my garage door was forced open and a lot of stuff stolen.

All day I felt sick, confused, bitter, disheartened and the more I think about it now........FURIOUS!

ADT security is suppose to patrol this complex three times during the day and night, but in 8 years I have only seen them ONCE. Say no more!

Sorry, I made a mistake; our security is NOT ADT, it's S&G!

My kop is a bit deurmekaar.......

Sorry to hear about it Jewelbox.

Try to relax my friend. It's just part of our lives, we need to live above all this ;)

Sorry to hear about your loss, but good to hear that you did not get harmed physically.

I know the feeling...

lol

Security Complexes = no really secure...

Sepcially when some houses are done, with people moved in and some houses still being build... My sister lives in one and the other day they broke into 2 houses in their complex. The builders said they saw the people walk out of the house... BUT THEY DIDNT DO ANYTHING... I mean WTF?

But then again, porn can always be downloaded again for free :D

The sad thing about out crime situation is that people now see crime only as serious when someone were harmed. We now measure the severity by whether violence were used.

Not a good omen for the psyche of the nation.

+1000.

Those a**holes have the absurdly huge arrogance to do it with no fear!!

2 attempted break-in on my property in as many weeks does not bode well...

Talk about the victim's psyche!!!

:(

Yeh, I had someone here today double barring windows and putting in 2 security gates so I can make a safe room so if anything happens the family have a safe room to go to while the rottweilers are busy delaying the #$%ts.

Sorry to hear that Jewelbox....its never cool when people invade the spaces where one is supposed to feel safe & protected.

Exactly. It's like "So you weren't raped...what excellent luck you must have.":(

Sorry to hear JewelBox- I was hit in April this year aswell.

Security Complexes = no really secure..
That's a fact. And the people in mine are so apathetic anyhow. And we get hit by the garden services- the body corporate got the cheapest most crappest garden services in, that had criminals working for them, so some of them stayed behind in the complex and pounced on my house at 5pm and then sneaked out as people started coming home from work.

At the moment I've got full armed response- and they did try and strike again, except the second time the armed response came out and so did I but the bastard got away

Oh, and body corporates don't give a bollocks- they only care about the levies coming into their account and always plead bankruptcy when you demand that things get fixed! I wish they'd change the law surrounding this.

That so bad, sorry to hear about this. It never feels nice when you know that you supposed to feel protected and safe thats why one stays in a complex, I know thats why I say in one!!!!!

Ja and it's kuk having to monitor your home all the time whilst at work and the worst is, on Mondays, when the garden services come in. Every phone call on your cell makes you jump because you don't know if its the armed response who's phoning you to tell you someone's broken into your place.

And the body corporate are protecting the garden services, because I suspect the old granny is getting leg-over from the owner.

Bluno i understand what you are saying but lets not try and deny we live in a country where lifes means nothing to criminals, so yes when something like this happens you count your blessings that your wife did not get raped and everyone is OK.

Denial is no good for a country and we cannot deny that criminals will kill us for a cellphone.

I disagree about security complexes being no more secure. It's done wonders here...crime rate went from medium to ~zilch.

I only know about 1 case in the last 5 years or so...and that was a resident's kid who stole stuff through windows. (The residents in question were persuaded to find housing elsewhere);)

You're lucky to have a no-nonsense body corporate, that's all. You're living in a One in 100

Well, we don't have a body corporate; only a few Directors, as this is a full title complex. Just about every domestic servant has a remote for the gate and all know the code as well. Our AGM is on Monday and I have put myself up for nomination as Director, just so that I can try and improve on our security. I served on the Board before, but it's very difficult to get people to obey any rules.

I understand.

My attitude these days is they must come and try and give me a R500 fine. They (the two old fossils who constitute the body corporate) have consistently threatened to fine me R500 for parking in the guest parking whilst I am TRYING to move new shower doors and other items into the house  Yet the friends and children of this old lady can park there ALL WEEKEND long.

The unit next door to me is rented out, so all kinds of rubbish moves in there. They throw their drinks bottles, papers, and other items into my yard and make a noise at all hours with their car sound. Tenants have more rights than owners in this complex. Anyhow I am going to try and buy the unit next door to us, so that I can have some control over who moves in there.

So my stance is I will protect my property and since they refuse to hold an AGM, and are in cotempt of the law I will not have anything to do with them. And I have told them that if they want to stay out of court, they must leave me be.

Last Thursday, Our dog was poisoned by an idiot who climbed into our property, Luckily my dad scared the F*cker away. And the police came quickly with smg's (which helped calm the nerves) - our dog got rushed to the vet and is doing well... God, it feels like I live in a prison!!! - electric fencing is our next step.
