I have several data modems used by traders, salespeople, and here at the office as extra/backup internet connection.
I have been able to to just go onto vodacom4me website and add once off data bundles for the contracts as needed for months now. Now the option is removed, cannot add databundles.
So I phoned vodacom, and I'm told that, coz it is a business contract, I must send a letter to request adding a bundle, with director's ID etc etc etc... WTF!
Can't go thru all that ***** everytime I need to add a data bundle!
So vodacom is about to loose quite a bit of munny, with me moving to a different network if they can't fix that crap!
Always strange how some companies actively go out of their way to loose business!

Has been like that for us since we opened our business accounts almost 2 years ago.

suc, how can they now just decide to do it without notice.... oh well, they made good munny out of it, in excess of R10K per month, which they now gonna loose out on.
guess they making enough munny

My guess is you mistakenly had the ability to make changes, but yes some notice would have been nice before removing it.

What they really need is a system where an "authorised" person at the company can login and manage all the accounts from one interface. Having to call/mail/fax really is a pain.

hehe maybe the deliberately closing accesses, coz all my corp accounts now blocked.....

As far as I know, they do have that - but you have to pay for it!

I queried this too - I'm also one of the kippies that has to write letters, fax them off to get anything changed on an account, and it's hopelessly inefficient. I just wonder how they justify charging corporate clients for a tool to administer their accounts, when that is provided free to private clients. I suspect it's a "Because we can." kind of thing.

Same here.

I have my phone registered on our business account, but it is for personal use only.

I could up to 2 months ago just add services as necessary. I would add a once off data bundle every now and then.

Same story, i am completely locked from adding ANY extra services to my account, need a company letterhead, signed document, id copy faxed to their customer center. Then wait for that for a few days to be approved... keep following up on it.. and then eventually it gets approved.

WHO THE F*&K came up with that little gem? My contract expires in 3 months, I will be moving to MTN. Do not have time for this hassle. Surely if you log in with a user and password, you are already authenticating your credentials. Now I need to go through all this effort to buy R100 worth of broadband data. What a joke!

Guys , this is to protect you the client against people unlawfully adding services that you may not know of. There have been a few cases of fraudulent activations recently , based on that i don't think it is such a bad idea. It's much easier to prevent these things from happening that to fix it afterwards.

raaaaiit.... I do understand that.... but maybe, instead of putting the users thru so much crap to get services added/changed, it would have been so much better to just provide better security if your systems are failing. (that is kinda worrying to hear about the bad systems tho)
anyways... me not gonna bother with it anymore, when I need a bundle added, I need it done quickly, even when i'm not at the office.
so alas, no more vc contracts coming up

Note , i never said systems are failing.

As far as I know, the problem is with employees having company phones, and the employee then adding bundles which push the cost higher than what the company has authorised him to use. Which sort of makes sense, except that if I can't add a data bundle, I'll still use it (it's part of my job after all) but the bill will be even higher, because I'll be paying out of bundle data rates.* So only the authorised company rep can add bundles, and by means of letters and faxes etc.

So, in my case I have a 500MB data bundle monthly, and some months I don't use even 20% of that, and some months I need more, but it's too much schlep to use ad hoc bundles, so I just leave it like that, cos at least I've usually got something. I suppose I should use a smaller advanced bundle, and if it was easier (ie available on the website) I probably would...

* That means I'll need another tub of Vaseline, but I'm not sure if the Vaseline is tax deductible.

VD, do you know what the situation is with managing the company contracts ourselves? Last time I checked (around eighteen months ago) there was a fee for that, which I think is highway robbery. This system actually costs Vodacom more, as the admin load is all on your staff, not ours. If anything we should be eligible for a rebate if we manage our own accounts...

I sent off my Fax last night, tried to follow up in the 082 111 call center and cant get to an actual live person, as none of the menu options apply. I hold for an operator and then he cant help me and transfers me back to the 'automated data menu'.

Now I have to chase this and follow it up every time over some 'contact us page' on Vodacom4me. So all in all, about a 3 day turn around.

Well done Vodacom, you have taken this process back about 20 years. Why don't i just write my requests down on a papyrus scroll and send it by pidgeon?

You must have chosen the wrong option on the menu , as other clients do get through. What was the fax for?
