I'm looking for a good broker in the durban area to insure my van with for business use.

Past experience with insurance left me wanting some very specific stuff from this policy.

I currently have a 2010 chev corsa utility 1.4 base with aircon, gamma shape with 180000 on the clock. Vehicle has had 2 accidents. Cost of first repair roughly 40k. Cost of second repair 55k. Insurance insists on a value of just under 100k for the van and tell me the true value will be calculated only in the event of theft or write off ( in other words they'll screw me nicely).

My requirements :

Insured for business use with 2 specified drivers. Business is a security company . Vehicle used for transport of staff and visiting of staff on sites.

Canopy cover of 10k.

Courtesy vehicle is stipulated as a 1.4 ldv with canopy for 30 days.

Vehicle Is parked in a secure area at night with satellite tracking on it.

Insurance is currently charging me around 1400 a month for the above. Wanting to get a new van and I'm being quoted in the 2500 a month range for a new corsa exactly as my old one. That's like a whole new vehicle installment and I believe I'm getting screwed.

Only accident I've claimed on was 31/07/2014, have my licence for 4 years and I'm 24. Those are my risk factors.

So ... insurance recommendations please?

And does anybody know what's a fair value for my van to be insured at?

To insure just a vehicle is difficult and I would suggest add some other covers to assist with bringing the premiums down and improve the risk and not just intending on placing the high risk items with insurance as the industry sees this as selection against them.
Dependant on your trade risk and type
Other covers suggested are:-
Office Comprehensive which will cover office contents excluding data processing items and items taken out the office as well as any stock.
This cover is relatively cheap.
Public Liability which will cover neglegent damage to T/P persons or property at your premises or where you are working.
This doesn't automatically cover defective workmanship or the product itself.
This cover is relatively cheap.

The above minimal covers will get you better quotes, terms and premiums.

Bear in mind you also don't have a great claims record/loss ratio.

Definitely work through a broker for this.
