Butter or margarine?

Would you use a hot dog roll for a sandwich roll? My mental image of a sandwich roll is like a baguette or panini roll, those would be foolish to cut from the top.

I suppose you could use a hotdog roll for a mini hoagie. By sandwich rolls I was thinking of rolls such as portuguese, hamburger, coney, Kaiser rolls…

For sauces and baking I use butter.

For bread I use margarine

+1 or on hot bread/toast Ill use butter.

Know what's worse than the person buttering all the rolls?

Rolls should always be cut from the top, not the side. You can get far more in the cavity cut from the top than from the side. It's also easier to eat. You'll see people inevitably turning a side-cut roll sideways to get the cavity on top and prevent spillage. Just cut the damn top to begin with...

Or better yet, split the roll completely in half lmao I HATE THAT!

Hmmm. I spy a lot of FIBBBERS on this poll. People actually prefer butter but buy Margerine. So people are overlooking the fact that their shopping trolleys contain margerine...even though they like butter better but can't be arrsed to pay the difference.

You won't get true butter to be spreadable unless at room temperature, that's the major issue. See my earlier post on saturation...

That's a no brainer mate. In summer leave it out of the fridge and it will be softer and more spreadable than marge. You also run the risk of it melting. You need to find the right place to keep it cool without the fridge.
In winter even out of the fridge its still firmer than marge if the air temp is cool.

Sure plenty of people prefer butter but still buy marge just because it's easier/cheaper. I have about 20 bricks of butter in the freezer (there was a special) as well as marge in the fridge.
I cook with butter and I also try and have it on my bread but i don't always leave the butter out so it's easily spread so I use marge instead.
