Hi All,

where could one buy a diamond at a good price locally? the idea is for it to be set in a ring.

I have checked diamondource, granddiamonds etc.

Ty

Speak to @Shaun108, he buys gold and diamonds and hides it in his house as investments

how about buying a stone that is actually rare and not support an industry that generates violence and perpetuates stereotypes?

Tanzanite is more rare than diamonds.

just for 5 seconds do a bit of research and remove any pre conceived bias. buying a diamond as an engagement ring will only make this world a little worse.

I can hook you up with a buddy of mine, he is from Angola.. :D

Whats your location?

Not to hop onto the "blood diamond" band wagon here. But if you chose to go with another type of precious stone, based on ethical reasons, or basically any reasons at all. Explaining it to her once giving her the ring, will show that you put in more thought and effort than simply buying a nice ring from the local Jewellery store. Any woman should give you massive points for the effort and forethought, even if they had their mind set on a certain stone/ring.

I understand, thus teach me, what to look for, where to look, maybe some examples etc.

Stay away from Tanzanite, its soft and scratch-prone. Spend your hard earned money on Diamonds.

oh and set yourself a budget, and work with that. remember the CCCC's and dont overthink things!

There's A LOT to know about diamonds, their grading, differences between grading companies and the like.

I went for a GIA certified diamond (ensuring it's not falsely classified as having a better colour, or having a proper cut when in fact it doesn't).

After researching your diamonds, make sure the one you buy has a proper cut grading, as it's the specific angles and shape of a diamond that makes it brilliant, not the colour or amount of inclusions..

I bought mine from Joel at Cape Diamonds, he also hand made a ring that I liked from Knox Jewelers' site.
He really does great quality work, and isn't more expensive than a useless chain store.

Good luck :)
