Suppose I want to buy a .com domain & want to keep it for essentially life long. How would I best go about this?

i.e. Which provider? How do I make it auto-renew indefinitely? ZA provider or something intl?

The domain appears to be unoccupied atm. I'll probably be hosting mail (Google apps) and maybe a webpage on it.

Total noob at this business. Someone pls enlighten me. :o

You can host at a place like http://www.webhostinghub.com/. They charge under $4 a month for unlimited storeage, bandwidth etc. As far as I know it includes the primary domain name. This is if you purchase hosting for a period of 3 years.

Otherwise godaddy.com offers domain registrations at $13 per year.

I do not know of cheaper offers, but I am sure that with a litlle bit of search you may find some.

And webhostinghub includes autorenewal, but you will have to change your credit card details as necessary ie new expiry dates.

I use godaddy to purchase my domain names and paypal to pay for them. Awardspace offers good free and cheap hosting packages

Pop me a PM if you would like me to assist you with all the stages of signing up for a domain etc

Get yourself a hosting company and by the domain through them. I suggest installing wordpress and actually having the site up even if vacant to improve your ranking over time
