What is the area like in terms of crime, etc? Going to see the house on Sunday. I am buying as a holiday home.

Very nice area actually...

Crime and such I'm not 100% sure about, since it is primarily holiday homes.

Thanks TB, yes looks like most of the people rent to back packers looking at online listings.

Yup,

I would assume crime goes through phases in the area.. especially since most of the houses will be practically empty of any valuable stuff for most of the year.

Not to worry about crime. Just leave the key under the welcome mat and let me know when you will not be there. I'll look after the place :D Seriously though, is the place close to the highway or closer to the coast?

Within walking distance of the beach. I am busy selling my one other property which I was renting out because in PMB, these ****ers came one day when I was between tenants and stole all the copper water piping:mad:. Left the water running down the street, just fortunate that an agent was visiting the next day otherwise I'd be fighting the municipality over 1000s in water bills. So, I'm worried about that kind of crime.

Was just asking because I believe that properties closer to the coast are generally safer as there are usually more activity in these areas i.e. people walking/driving to the beach etc.. Areas further away usually have less traffic and thus offers more 'undisturbed' opportunities.....

We also had it here a while back where people broke off all outside taps and pipes. Woke up at 3am one morning with a 'pool' in my driveway. Now replaced everything with plastic

If you're looking to reinvest, maybe you should look at buying into a complex then. This is very common with stand alone holiday homes.
