Buying a laptop

Please give me advice on buying a laptop. I need to choose between HP pavillion DV6610ei, Toshiba L40-18J, Toshiba U300-153, or Toshiba A200-1si. I am told that HP laptops at middle price ranges (R6000 - R10000) are not durable, is it true. I am also not sure whether Toshiba is a good product.

I can't speak for the others - but I had an HP pavilion (dv6000eu). It was nice, but the HD died after three weeks (Incredible Connection replaced the entire computer immediately) then the motherboard died after nine months. Warranty repairs are handled bby axis for that range, not HP. They didn't have parts for my model, so I had to wait two weeks for a replacement motherboard to be brought in from France.

You seem to have actual models in mind - why don't you post the price and specs of the models so people can give more helpful advice.

I have no problem with HP, even though I'd always recommend a Dell instead. Toshiba to me can go fly a kite...

I have a compaq (HP) which is a few years old already. i have had a few problems with the notebook, but support has always been good.

Hp build quality sucks and toshiba's after sale service sucks just as hard

Thanks guys for your assistance. The prices for the stated models are as follows: HP DV6610ei R7999, Toshiba L40-18J R6999, Toshiba U300-153 R8399, Toshiba A200-1SI R9299. This quotes are from computer corporation. They insist that I should go for the Toshibas instead of HP because they are receiving a lot of HPs back for repairs. Maybe you may advice me on the best computer to by for the price range of R6000 - R7500.
